Ski big air is garbage

Lot of future spins were happening at X games big air, just no one really landed them clean enough or landed a second trick to get the big score and medal so no one cared.

I have to disagree and agree at the same time.
What I agree with: It looks like the same trick by everyone. Seriously, I can barely tell the difference between the dub 16 liu kang and the trip 14 safety. It became a flippy spinny thing. they tuck as soon as possible and stretch out right before landing. I cant even remember what the best trick was in the entire contest because they look so alike. Its like watch an aerials contest, "did he do a full-double full-full or a double full-full-full?" All I can do is shake my head in amazement that these guys. Im sure watching it in person would be a different story.

What I disagree with: I can feel the fear and stress all by the athletes all the way to my TV. I get super excited to see a variation of an established trick and see if they can put it down on their feet; Just like a football player going for a touchdown. My buddies all sit in the living room commentating on the trick and pointing out what they really liked about the run.

I was fortunate enough to see the sport go from a prototype contest to a full blown international scene. In the golden era or park skiing (1998-2006), new tricks were being invented every contest. People minds melted when JF Cusson did the switch 720 at winter X. I was amazed seeing Tanner Hall doing a switch misty 5 in a way that didnt even look possible. Today, we wont even pay attention to any of those tricks. In 2009, the spin to win was taking ahold of the scene; whoever did a bigger spin won the contest regardless of style. It was the talk of the community and a hotly debated subject. But, they was the hardest tricks in the book and the only way to win. Fast forward to 2017 and we are back to the spin to win debate. Same trick, but who can do it better...

I think you have to change the way you perceive big air contests. Its no longer about being surprised on a new, innovative trick; but who can do the trick better.

Progression from double twister spread to sw 7 was a lot more enjoyable to watch than from dub to trip flip.

Now that the new wave has died down a lil from it's initial hype, I feel like less new shit is being thrown. Eventually skiing WILL hit a limit, but then there's the TC doing there undertokyopretzelfucks and that gives me hope. Thoughts?

I'd like to see a big air comp but instead of a standard park jump they use like a hip or a step up.

Also look at the lifespan of being a competitor. Most of these guys have 2 year careers until they got to retire by the age of 17 due to blown out knees or massive concussions. Personally, Im tired of remembering 20 new names every season.

Agree, focus needs to go back to grabs/axis not rotations, more unique tricks like ABM recent triple 10s

Kai Mahler is very enjoyable to watch in Big Air. Perfect combo of spinning and style imo

I can confirm I have. But he's 1 person. The only people being somewhat creative are Elias (when he's in the comp) Kai, and AHall. Henrik has been doing the same tricks since 2014 with the exception of the orbital

Progression is slowing down but it is still happening. Just check out anything ABM does. I think judges and scoring could change a bit to support skiers like jesper and I really dig those comps that have a best style trick section as well.

I mean the human body can only do so much. I think that as everyone gets these spinny tricks on lock we'll start to see a new wave of weird rotations. Already people are doing some crazy doubles that "change direction" or have multiple shifties and grabs thrown in.
