Kartel, Meridian, MSP, or Nomad

I'm pretty much your stats and I'm in love with the 181 Kartel 108's. The rocker profile and mount lets you swing the tails out wide freely when you need to shed speed or change direction, and they have beef enough to be an all mountain wider every-day ski. Havent got out on any of the other models in your consideration recently enough to be of any use.

Given any thought towards RMU? Particularly the Apostle 106 or North Shore 108? I've not had a chance to skie either but the might fit well into your criteria.

Thanks a lot for the input! Those RMUs look sick but may bit a tad too pricy for me. I'm putting a hard cap at $750 for these skis.

The msp’s tail is only slightly rockers and I’m not sure about the pioneer while the rest have full tail rocker. Will you be skiing switch? If so you probably want full tail rocker. If not then you could maybe benefit a bit more from a flatter tail. Kartel 108 is a sick ski and so is the meridian.

Full rocker won't be great on ice but you have the Kastles for that. From what I've read the Meridian is one of Moments stiffer skis so it should charge pretty well but the full rocker will make it floaty and super pivoty when you want it. Also those topsheets are wet

MSP 107 has the most traditional feel out of those 3. It likes to be driven with a forward stance and doesn't feel super intuitive to ski switch. It's also probably the most damp out of the 3, but the Kartel and Meridian aren't far behind. For a directional ski with a fairly mellow rocker profile, the MPS 107 is surprisingly easy to slide around and release from a turn (though not quite as easy as the Kartel and Meridian). The MSP is also not a very demanding ski. If you want a pretty damp, directional ski but don't want something super stiff and unforgiving, it's a good option.

Kartel 108 feels best when skied with a more centered stance (not driving your shovels a ton) and is one of the most damp and stable ~105mm freestyle skis I've ever used. Lots of rocker, so it floats very well and is super easy to slash and spin. Stiffer than most freestyle skis, so you gotta lay into it to pop off its tips and tails. But as so many people have shown in countless edits, this is definitely doable, and it rewards you with a ton of energy.

Meridian 107 feels fairly similar to the Kartel in that it's stiffer than most freestyle skis, and this also helps with its stability. In soft-ish snow, the Meridian 107 and Kartel 108 feel very similar in terms of stability. You can ski very fast on either. The main thing that differentiates the Meridian is its reverse-camber profile. It is ridiculously easy to slide and pivot around. It's not as poppy or easy to butter as the Kartel 108, but if you're a strong skier you can get some energy out of its stiffer flex. The Meridian also responds a bit better to more of a forward, driving stance than the Kartel, though you can ski centered on both.

I wouldn't choose the Meridian or Kartel on a day when conditions are brutally firm, but if the snow's at all soft, they're a ton of fun. I'd say the Meridian is a bit better on firm snow than the Kartel.

You’ve got a skinny ski, I vote go for either meridian or kartel 108. Kartel if you want more charged and meridian more playful/surfy. If you want to lean into the ski and maybe charge a bit more go with flatter tailed ski with a mount further back.
