-eREKTion-Big Bear isn't that bad and it's only an hour and a half from LA. Also, Mammoth is only five hours away. LA is low key a ski town.
JoeF2661Maybe. But as somebody that has lived in LA it's also a shithole.
LivingDaLifeDenver? It's farther away from skiing than SLC but still is a big city ski town. It's closer than others that have been mentioned in this thread.
KnewnewsI can't believe people are saying tahoe, it isn't a big city what so ever. Same with LA, you would be wanting to do mammoth trips all the time as big bear is more of a hit and miss ski town unless you are 100% into park.
-eREKTion-I'm born and raised in LA, I'm glad I don't live there now but it's got everything you could want in a city.
eheathWhat's wrong with SLC? Its really the only "city" that is close to "good" skiing.

PataguccimaneIf your decision is weighted heavily by EMS I’d say look into Reno. The EMS culture around here is great and pretty deep with plenty of great jobs to be had. Currently going through my fire academy at truckee Meadows and my junior year at UNR and have already met so many people involved with EMS here it’s crazy.
As far as the skiing goes, that’s initially why I moved here after hs. You’ve got Rose just minutes away if you’re looking for convenience and then there’s squaw/alpine around 40 minutes away along with a lot of other Tahoe resorts at around the same distance away.
DesertStixAnd a chance you’ll respond with Lt. Dangle on scene.
Serious question, besides gambling and the immediate skiing nearby, what do people go to Reno for?
AbiHAh heck! Not a durn thing, I actually want to go to SLC. But I need to have a backup plan if I can’t find work... I need plans B and C
JWillySkeezWhats wrong with EMS in small towns? Asking because I'm interested in working in a similar field.
SkiBum.At the rate SLC is right now you can find any job anywhere in almost any field. Labor shortage for most. Housing is cheap. Great combo
AbiHOh la la
Good to hear!
OregonDeadBend OR. IDK if Salk Lake even counts as a big city. OP if you go to any medium sized town that is a long ways from everywhere they will have all the amenities just like Salt Lake does. Salt Lake doesn't even have 200,000 people.

Profahoben_212Salt lake is literally 6 times the size of bend
OregonDeadStill considered it's own metro area and it has all the amenities though. SLC does have more people and it's 48th biggest metro area in the country but still it's not a "big city" .
OP Bend is worth considering if you can get a job there. Trader Joe's actually sells wine there. Good music etc. too.
Sounds like the ambulance company is as big of a deal as anything though and I don't know anything about that.
JoeF2661Yo. Come to south lake tahoe for real.
AbiHHow big is South Lake Tahoe?

JoeF2661Around 23 thousand people. The nightlife is dope and the location is awesome. Very underestimated ski town. Bit expensive like most resort town. But it's a blast. I live further up north but make weekly trips to ride Tahoe due to low snowfall In the shasta area but will be relocating soon. I can guarantee you you can relate to the low snowfall because new Mexico the last few years seem the same.

BigPurpleSkiSuitPretty sure just about everywhere is hiring right now. Economy is great, do you plan to work on mountain or do you have a profession?

AbiHThat’s great! By the time I head west I’ll have my paramedic license,I’ll be working EMS so I can get a good handle on it all before I go international.
BigPurpleSkiSuitHave you considered ski patrol jobs if you're EMS certified?
AbiHDang that’s really tempting... do you work for REMS?
PataguccimaneI do not, full time student rn so just planning on getting through fire academy and doing a few years with the forest service while I finish up school at UNR
AbiHNice! have you heard if they’re good?
Deepskierno one has shit on Vancouver.

IHUFFPAINTDenver is great except when driving up I-70 and see 4 million texas plates.
