Hello NS, I have to great skis that fit my price range. I have never had a park ski before, so I don’t know which one I would enjoy more. I weigh 105 lbs and am 15 years old. I ski Midwest and would like a daily driver with 70% park 30% outside. I am a beginner park skier and can’t do too many tricks yet. I appreciate all input, so feel free to give as much info as possible! Thanks guys. I appreciate all the help. If you have any other skis to recommend keep in the 300-$400 price range. Thanks!
Definetly get the ARV I have a pair of blends and regret buying them. Thats not to say they arent a good ski its just i bought them just because the marketing is really good for Line. I dont know much about the TW but dont let the marketing of Line haze your judgement. There is a lot to be desired with the Blends. The ARV is also a much better all mountain ski than the TW. Hopefully that helped im sure you'll be happy with whichever ski you buy.
i will almost never suggest a Line ski over an Armada but in this case, if these are the only choices, i might suggest the TWs. i'm the arv96's biggest fan, have been for more than ten years, but if youre only skiing midwest and mostly park, i think a stiffer 80s waisted ski (TW) makes more sense than a 90s waisted, softer ski (arv96)
that said, without even looking i can tell you you can probably find the ARV86 for cheaper than the 96, and that'd be my suggestion
all THAT said... you are totally set regardless, these are all sick skis so choose what seems to fit you best, pull the trigger, and never worry about it again until it's time for new skis
I'd recommend a stiffer and narrower ski for learning park, which would mean of the two, go for the TW, but I also suggest taking a look at the ARV 86. Learning swaps and spins out of rails will be way easier with a light ski. I'd start there, and if you want skis for more uses in the future, maybe consider a two ski quiver. I use Head caddys most days cause they're soft enough for butters, and have good edge to edge control due to being 84mm underfoot. Late season and east coast pow days, I bust out the B dogs, and when I travel/tour, I'll bring my JJ Zeros. I have other skis in the cycle, but I share a quiver with my dad and whoever bought the pair gets first dibs.
Thanks NS for all the information, everything was helpful and insightful. It looks like they are both great pairs of skis. From my conclusions it looks like the TWs will be best for my conditions and skill level.
