Workouts for Skiing!

Quick I have 3 months before I head to keystone and my legs are not in shape for western skiing (I’m 6 foot 200lbs from the midwest). What are your workouts for getting in shape and staying in shape for ski season!

Just do squats, exlposion things(Squat jumps, lunges, etc), core workouts!!!

Depends on if you want to condition your legs more or if you want strength

Rear/ front squats are probably one of the best excersizes for your legs

Good ones for balance are split leg squats, lunges, and pistol squats

Deadlifts and straight leg deadlifts can help with skiing form

High knees and fast paced step ups are good for explosiveness

Stair climber is a very good tool because it works your legs for a long time just like a long ski run will. You won't last long at all at first, but it is fine. Just try to set a goal for a certain number of stairs and increase it. I'd start it around 6 weeks out and do it a few days a week. It will get your heart rate very high which will help lose a lot of weight too

People like to think it's all in the legs which isn't true. While the power is in the legs, control is in the core. I do leg raises, weighted decline crunches, dumbbell side bends and cable crunches. Deadlifts, squats, leg presses and lunges are all great too.

I've been doing some research on yoga as well, hot yoga to be precise. It sounds gay but I heard it from couple of friends and they are thrilled about how good of an exercise it is! Have you started practicing already? I'm still reading a little bit about it... If you bump into some good stuff to get into it , post it please

My girlfriend got into it by downloading an app that basically gives you video lessons and I joined her a couple times. It's a good workout and a great way to improve your flexibility, something I definitely need to work on

Exactly! Also, you pick up breath control which is sooo important for pretty much any physical activity, your endurance will be on spot!

What's the name of the app? Is it free?

The app is Asana Rebel. There's a free trial but the full thing costs money.
