Center mount or nah?

So I am a really good skier not the best at park but thats all im focusing on this season and Ive nevr skied center mount before but plan on mounting my skis center. All that im wondering is some pros ann cons for center mounting. and is it easier to spin when you go center?

I learned to ski with center mounted skis and saw no downside to it. If your goal is park then I recommend getting them centered so you don't have to remount them when you inevitably decide to center them.

Centre mounted skis are great for the park as they will help a great deal with locking onto rails, initiating spins, as well as stability with landing switch. The downside of centre mount of course is that if you use them for skiing pow, you'll sink a little easier.

I always ask for a half cm behind center. Probably wouldn't notice a difference, but I take full laps in between park laps and have never felt like I need to lean back to initiate full edge hold. I suggest anywhere between 2cm back and center, but if having something that feels confidence inspiring means a slightly more all mountain mount, then go for it. Did my first 900 on skis mounted 2.5cm behind center.

If you ever intend on skiing outside the park you should mount your skis at the recommended mounting point

Pros
Equal (and proper) weight distribution for sliding rails and boxes
Equal (and proper) weight distribution for spins and flips
More tail available to lean back on when landing backseat

Cons
Less stable feeling
Easier to get caught up through various snow conditions (i.e. powder)

Verdict: Have park skis center mounted

Forgot to add that center mount is what you want for skiing and landing switch as well

It’s probably psychological but hitting rails on skis that aren’t center mounted feels so weird to me

Anything thats past -2cm i notice a difference, just makes it a little less comfy and unbalanced but nothing you cant get a around for a few days

Find dead center move back one inch (or 2.5 cm). If you ski around the hill it'll work for you.

"We do not recommend mounting your skis at true center as it has more disadvantages than advantages, even if you only ski park." Thats straight off Factions website in their FAQs section. I think you should go -1 or -2 from true center. I have my skis at -2.5 and i don't really notice it in the park and they feel really nice outside of the park

I learned and have done all my skiing not just park on center mounts. I think they were great all around

Only skis that should be center mounted are fully symmetrical skis. Other than that it needs to be back....you are doing more harm to the way the ski rides than you will gain by having 10g less weight on your nose.

Most park skis rec is what 2 to 2.5 cm back? Measure that out. It's not that much at all and the weight of that is fairly negligible. Yet it can completely destroy the way a ski arcs a turn....both regular and switch.

Dont center imo.

Just to clarify this, this is something which is not universal. Each ski will have a different recommended mounting positions dependent on the camber and sidecut profile. The best recommendation would be to research how your specific ski would work at centre mount.

Right and most skis do not have a perfectly symmetrical sidecut which usually lends itself to not mounting the ski at true center. But yes every ski is different and should be looked into

The only skis that work well center mounted are symmetrical in dimension. Otherwise, it's best to be between 1cm - 3cm from center, fluctuating depending on length and dimensions.
