Tips for front swapping

last season I tried many times to front swap, but always failed horribly, does anyone have tips on how to do them or how to learn

try to turn onto the rail full 90 degrees, wind up ur body while digging ur front foot heel into to the rail and send er

It's really all about making sure you pop. If you just drop your heel without a good pop, you might get lucky and do a front surface swap, but you'll probably just eat shit. So make sure you're setting your heel, and do the 180 to swap make sure you're deliberately popping to do a clean swap without clipping anything.

I just learned these last season, here's what I do. Apply pressure on your front heel, and wind your shoulders, then unwind and jump, make sure to keep looking at the end of the rail to maintain balance, and pick your feet up so you don't catch your tips. (I caught my tips a lot, would recocreco learning on a low fatty tube

Drop your front heel, that’s what helped me the most, also make sure you looking at the end of the rail

I am definitely getting a good pop, but I pop up instead of perpendicular to the rail which is where I run into issues. I also cannot 360 a jump which is very sad, but every time I try I just land backseat and kill my shins.

ok cool I feel a lot better now. I wanted to try it on a flat rail or tube of some sort first, but seven springs’ park crew said flat rails are too basic.

Thats really good progression. You got the hardest part down, now just focus on being real centered on the rail prior to throwing the swap, and focus on jumping straight up and down. It'll come with time if you focus on it each time you try the swap. And if you need 360 help theres a million threads, but the TLDR for 3's is initiate spin with you core, keep your shoulders and hips level, stay centered/lean forward a little on the takeoff to prevent the backseat landing.

I was trying to say that seven springs refused to put up a normal flat rail because it isn’t “creative enough.” It was an opening day park so I cannot really hate on them.

I did a really exaggerated swap by jumping and twisting until I did it normal. Really dig the front edge in and like above it’s similar to a early front 2. Use a pvc on snow in your backyard so when you fall you don’t kill yourself.

Drop your front heal down and and try to grip the rail with the inner edge of your front foot and apply pressure. Once you can feel the momentum to pop the other direction jump, lift your front foots tail back up so it dosent clip the rail, spin your shoulders 180 and land back on the rail. The nice thing about front swaps is that you can look down the rail the whole time like you normaly would if you were just sliding it. The most technical part of the trick is figuring out how much pressure you need to apply to the inner edge of your front foot. The more pressure the faster your rotational momentum will change. If you apply to little pressure you won’t be able to swap, but if you apply to much pressure you’ll end up nutting the rail haha.

A method that worked really well for me was to start on a easy flat tube, and lap it but alternate going on right foot first and left foot first to get the feel for being on the rail unnatural. Then started doing swaps just at the end of the rail (early 270). Then do them earlier and earlier to the point where you get on the rail and swap right away to practice keeping locked in after a swap
