Bachelor or Meadows Season Pass

I live in Portland but I like Mt Bachelor waaay better than Mt Hood Meadows.. but Mt Hood Meadows is closer and it’s honestly Not Bad and I would save soo much money and driving time.. but I am just in love with Mt Bachelor.. someone help me out what should I go with this next season?
(I’ve always worked in the industry so i’ve never had to pay for pass) what would be a good investment for me? I plan to ski and snowboard A Lot this season so a season pass is s forsure thing.
Should I follow my heart and go to Mt Bachelor for season pass Or.. should I make smart financial decisions and get a Meadoes season pass?

Think this one through. You are on here enough that I kinda believe you when you say you want to ski a lot. Pick up a Meadows or Bachelor pass as your second pass if you are rich or if you are like me just pick up one of their spring passes if we are having a great year.

Have you skied meadows much? I ski there most the winter and I love it. Good terrain and there parks have been getting so much better these past few years.

So you intend to ski a lot, do you intend to drive 3 1/2 hours each way to ski a lot? Sounds like....A lot. Get a Meadows pass. It also has night skiing.

Hey man I kind of had the same dilemma. My home mountain last few seasons has had real poor snowfall so I bought my pass for a tahoe resort I had been to many times. What sold me was the price. 350 bucks for a college. I got 4 times and it pays for itself( I'll get that done but december). I plan on doing a lot of touring though this year to. You have a good problem though. Meadows or bachelor!!! The extra time driving blows but I like waking up early on a ski day and if you got a buddy or two to split gas than it should work.

Terrain at Meadows is super awesome I'll agree with that. I've got my spots there and if I get a chance mid-week or in the spring I'm all about it. Parks getting better is relative.

Things to look for at Meadows: Heather & Clark Canyon, Private Reserve, S&R cliffs, the cornices off of Cascade, & all the sneaky terrain off Mt. Hood Express...not to mention a fun park (not as good as Bachelor tho) but saving all the driving will be worth it.

Have you considered a Meadows pass, and possibly a Skibowl night pass and Tline spring pass? I have a love hate with Meadows, I love skiing there, despise the corporation's management, and after past seasons dread the ever expanding crowds more and more. (Days this winter when all three lots were full before 9AM, weekdays when Sunrise was filling up, etc...) Even with that I still prefer to ski there than Bachelor although I have spent much more time at Meadows. SkiBowl night is going to give you closest skiing to Portland... (when they are open) it is easily my favorite place to ski on Hood. Also Tline delivers amazing parks and if they still sell a spring pass you can ride there from mid March to end of May for around $150

Where is your home mountain and where in Tahoe did you get your pass?

I'm in the bay area so it's basically 3 hours to any skiing and 3.5 to some really great skiing. Picked up the Ikon pass this year so Squaw will be home.

I live up by redding in the northstate. Mt.Shasta is my my home mountain. I got my pass to sierra at Tahoe. Squaw is so fucking sick but it was just too much coin and to be honest I think sierra has the best tree skiing in tahoe so I went with it. South lake is dope so it's a win win.

Did you get the unlimited pass with the Powder alliance thingy? If so you should consider a trip to Hood. Pretty sure you can do six days between Timberline and Skibowl. Best parks and longest season is at Timberline and Skibowl has the best terrain on Hood.

I've been wanting to go down there to Sierra to finally use my powder alliance benefit and try out the tree skiing.

Right on right on. I've never skied Shasta. Last year we had the epic pass so spent a few weekends in South Lake skiing heavenly, which sucked. We spent $1376 on Ikon passes for the fam, the kids are cheap, still a chunk of change.

Does it take any longer to get to south shore from Redding? I'd guess it's just a matter of which highway you take out of Sac right? How long is that ride?

As to OP's question, I'd get the pass to whatever is closest, Meadows in this case unless it's absolutely terrible. Driving hours just makes it so much more hassle. If you get a couple weekends at Bachelor that's a bonus, or keep your eye on the weather and get there for a couple big pow days?

Yea, I'm on the powder alliance. For sure going to try to make a trip up to Oregon this season. Nothing better than free tickets. The only thing that blows is they are only free midweek but half price on weekends. Either way I'll make it out there. Dude if you can make it down you'd love sierra. Real good terrain and like I said the tree skiing is the best. Sugar bowl is on the powder alliance also that's on the north side of Tahoe and its pretty rad also. Fuck bro if you make it down this season hit me up.

Yea Heavenly isn't all that Heavenly in my opinion. Its a very family in a high tax bracket kind of resort much like anything owned by vail. I dont knock it for that cuz fuck we all would like to have more money but i can think of a few better places in the Tahoe region than Heavenly. I can make it to south lake in about 3 hours. Drive down to sacramento then shoot over on the 50. The way back if i have the time i take the 89 cuz the drive is real pretty but it easiy adds another 1 1/2 hour of driving.

Yeah sugar bowl looks pretty cool. I should just pick a week to go and hope you guys have snow. I think all Saturdays were blacked out before so 1/2 price is alright. Some places like Mammoth will give you 1/2 price if you have a pass from anywhere though. Probably more fun on weekdays anyways since I don't like lines.

I am based in Eugene with a Meadows pass, and ski every weekend. Bachelor is closer but I have a place to stay in Portland which minimizes the day trip burden. As long as snow is good, I prefer the larger terrain at Meadows over Bachelor always.

+1 for Meadows, it's like $600 for this season and you get plenty of value for that if they have half decent weather. If you plan on making solo trips, spend another $28 to add the season ski check to your pass because Meadows does have some thieves.

I can't get excited about Batchelor anymore after my buddy exploded his knee right in front of me in the point terrain park.
