thatsGHow does the countach 110 compare to a Faction dictator/dancer?
ThaLoraxThe direct comparison for that would be the Commander, not the Countach
Countach is going to be easier to throw around than either the Dancer or the Commander. Commander is more aggressive and composed compared to the Dancer.
Countach 110 = directional but freestyle influenced
Dancer 3 = directional, easier to toss around
Commander 108 = directional, more aggressive
At least that's my general idea with limited knowledge on the Dancer.
vermontana@hot.pocket - is the DWT104 construction that much more substantial than the regular DWT? Interesting that the skinnier ski is actually heavier. relatedly, would they ski a bit longer?
Have a DWT 190 for pow/midwinter tours and want to replace my big day touring skis next season, thinking maybe a DWT104 in 184 could be the ticket but tbh they're a bit heavier than would be ideal.
Yes, the 104 does have a more substantial build to it. Thicker core profile throughout and swaps the Ash stringers in the 112 for European Beech, which is heavier and damper. Translating that to the touring version, there's less filler wood in the 104, providing less material to lighten up, thus the similarity in weight between the 104 and 112 tour versions.
I do feel that the 104 skis a touch longer, but not by much. I daily the 112 DW 190 and skied the 104 DW 190 fairly often last season, and the 104 certainly required more effort on my part (I'm also a finesse over power skier, so take that into account). I'll most likely be swapping my 104 DW 190 for a 104 DW 184 in the future (6'2 150lbs).
@cydwhit has a review posted up on Powder about the Deathwish Tour 104:
https://www.powder.com/gear-locker/review-moment-deathwish-tour-104
Snippet from his review regarding the weight:
It’s not just a narrower, lighter Deathwish Tour. For starters, it’s not
really that much lighter. According to Moment’s stated weights, it only
shaves 5 g per ski. So it’s not just a “more efficient” Deathwish Tour,
instead, it’s something else. It’s a quicker, more nimble, more
optimized for firm snow option. I think that makes choosing between it
and Moment’s other touring skis relatively easy. Want triple camber
optimized for firmer snow performance? Here’s your huckleberry.
