Bindings for my new old skis - Neox on Metron

Last year, I picked up a used pair of Atomic Metron IX skis fitted with Salomon 900 bindings. They were well used with a damaged edge but I just needed something so that I could ski alongside my disabled son who was undertaking an adaptive ski program. Before I knew it, I was hooked and really enjoying the skiing. I then found a brand new, unused pair of identical skis on eBay for $50 which I snapped up. As they were still in the wrap, they had never had bindings fitted but did have the rails/plates pre-installed with markings for mounting Neox, Race or Centro. I then went on a search for compatible bindings and found a few Neox versions still lingering around, specifically the Neox 12 RS

My question is, how are these bindings fixed to the base? Do they need drilling or do they screw right into the plates?

there are quite a few different systems for track style bindings like that, some that slide or clip on or some that need some screws put through but will be adjustable from there. For stuff that old its probably gonna be quite hard to find the exact right ones so if you're buying over ebay or similar maybe try to get some detailed photos of the underside of the binding parts they have and any other parts included so you can try to get it all matched up, otherwise might end up paying for bindings you can't even use. if they are correct though it's usually pretty straightforward to attach them, and any technician will be able to get the length and release adjusted for you super easy.

I pulled the trigger on those Neox RS bindings on ebay. They should be here in a couple of days so we'll see.

Great kid! How else would I have found an excuse to go skiing :)

So... bindings arrived yesterday and I fitted them to the skis, directly to the factory plate. No jig, no drilling. I did a video of the one-handed install on YouTube for future reference...
