Most painful injury

Just broke my colarbone last weekend mountain biking at my local resort. Felt like I was going to pass out and couldn’t move my upper body. It was for sure the worst pain of my life but thinking about other injury’s people have had skiing related or not.

I've done my collar bone 4 times.... it feels like a scratch compared to breaking your back.

Collarbone can be bad if it's displaced pretty good. Well anything can be bad. It all sucks. I don't think I've ever broken something and been like sweet. I think my back and leg was the worst. Idk if I hit my head too but I kind of blacked out after trying to stand up and walk away from ski patrol. Loosely remember the ride through the park being the shittiest shuttle ride of my life, possibly only matched by the off road rally ride to the hospital, then equaled with the sad excuse for spaghetti I had. What a fun was to spend new years that was.

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, somebody get me the fuck out of here. Happy fucking new years!

I don't think I've broken anything that was too crazy

Actually ribs were pretty bad. Luckily didn't really displace at all so was stoked. Not even skiing. Helping a drunk coworker home from the bar at the resort. He took us down and I hit a rock. Just remember gasping for air. Somehow got him back to his room and threw him up into his bunk, before passing out.(I was clearly drunk enough too) Woke up in the morning and was like lol nope this is dumb. Finally started healing and then I did a hike to this local village and got super sick, most violent cough I've ever had. Like I fell over onto my bed from coughing so hard, and that re fucked it all up. Then was getting good again and then I beat it up trying to surf like a kook. At least the 3rd time just kind of bruised it and made it tender.

Some of my friends have some shot ribs, so I'm glad mine are all lined up.

I've heard femur is the worst. I've only cracked mine, and was on enough pain killers from my back to not have cared. But people who have snapped that shit, from what I've heard it sounds fucking terrible.

But like I said, even a finger, a toe, a foot, it's all shitty.

Hows your shoulder healing up? Did they give you one of those coolers to pump ice water through to it? those are pretty clutch, especially if you need any surgeries. If not I just saw one of mine in my parents garage in NY. I'm on my way to CA currently but if you're in upstate NY and in need, you can have it. Hoping I never need it again.

It’s healing but I’m going to need surgery. No they did not but I think I know what you are talking about. It’s all good man I get surgery in less than a week so it’s not too long.

Well all I've had are broken wrists, foot, and mcl/acl injuries.

Foot was pretty bad , wrist sucked when it was my right hand, but knee injuries fucking blow. Shit takes forever to heal (as do foot injuries).

I give it to the largest joint in the body. The knee.

Most painful injuries by experience:
1.Peroneal tendon severed, did this when I was 8 or 9, it's the big tendon that runs down the outside of your foot.
2. Broken collarbone, as previous person said, there's no comfortable way to sit, stand, or lie down.
3. Any kind of trauma to the bells, probably designed by nature to be the most severe, that blinding pain and nausea is godawful

Broke my collarbone on my bike as well. Thought it was pretty sore till I fucked up my back throwing a backflip on a jump that was too small. Turns out all I did was tear muscles but that was fucking agony, but i was skiing again in two weeks. Still suffer from back pain from it though because I didn’t let it heal properly.

The broken femur was in 2004. I couldn't ski for a few years after that. I started skiing really hard again, however, in 2015. I can ski as hard as ever now. But I still can't run - too painful. Weird ...

Gotta say my back was my most painful in total. 10 months of feeling like sandpaper was between 2 vertebrae and wearing a huge plastic brace that made me sweat like death. Sometimes I'll still get weird cramps on it like 8 years later.

Ripping my ear off surprisingly didn't hurt too bad.

Breaking the arm wasn't too horrible either...actually didn't even know I broke my wrist for probably 10 minutes....thought I broke ribs and only found out it was my wrist when I tried to grab my ski pole to go down and my hand didn't work.

Worst Ive had was sprained ankles from playing basketball and stepping in a hole in the yard.

Weirdest one I had was I dislocated my shoulder in my sleep. I had my arm in a goofy position and my muscles relaxed enough to let it slide out. When I woke up I coudnt put my arm down. I had to force myself to stay relaxed and kinda move it around until it went back into place. Then it was all tingly. It hurt for a day and then was back to normal again

broke my collarbone messing around on some snowflex moguls haha i think that was the worst pain when it happened. I also fell down some steps in a drunken state and broke my cheekbone, woke up in A&E and the doctor gave me a mirror and said i needed surgery, that really sucked.

Running is probably harder on your legs than skiing is honestly, not as much repetitive impact t.

My most painful skiing injury was racking my balls last season. I wacked them so hard I couldn't get an erection for 3 months, did nerve damage and had these weird swellings. Theres nothing more embarassing than having to go get scans on your nuts.

Got kicked in the face playing soccer once. Thought I was concussed and went home for a few hours, only to realize i could move my jaw. T'was broken and didnt even know for 3 hours or so

Oh I hate that when it brings you down to the ground and you sit there rocking back and forth clutching your injured toe in agony.

Not me, but my dad used to be the hockey trainer at UMaine. Said the gnarliest injury by far was a dislocated hip.

Blowing my acl hurt a lot, but right after, I tried to tough it up and stomp back into my bindings again, only to have my knee dislocate sideways. That motherfucker hurt a lot hahaha fuck

Skiing: Abdominal hernia is up there. Its like getting shanked by a rusty blade and constantly being turned. Had to pull the gut from the protrusion by stretching it out. Blown ankles was a bummer, made walking near impossible. broken thumb sucked, its when you break it, you know that its essential to life.
MTB: 3 broken ribs a couple years back; I can still see the left side of my rib cage is elevated a quarter inch. Breathing was difficult and no physicians were available to check it out.
Agressive inline: 2 front teeth broke. The impact wasnt bad, but the reconstruction was so much worse.

All and all, I have been quite careful and stayed away from serious injuries
