I'm writing this to help people avoid what I am going through as well as hoping writing this down will help me feel better. I met a girl back in January and I thought that we hit it off pretty quickly. I learned that she was a skier with a lot of knowledge about the industry which instantly got my interest. Although we lived a good distance away from each other we would ski every weekend as well as travel around Colorado together. After about 6 months of being together I thought that everything was going good and I was really starting to get feelings for her. Then a couple weeks ago she took a trip west to mount hood with her girl friend. Talking to her on the phone almost every day I thought nothing of it when she told me about a dude she was skiing with that I had heard about before. After a week and a half out west she came back and I went to visit her excited to see a girl I started caring a lot about. Not too long into hanging out with her I saw him blowing up her phone and it later got revealed she hooked up with him and slept with him. Almost instantly I saw the interest she showed for me disappear. I have never been so devastated in my life. It would be one thing if it was just a normal girl but this cut me deep. She left my ass and as far as I know they are together now. Mount hood is one of my favorite places on earth and now every time I see a picture or video from there it makes me sick. It has ruined something that makes me happier than anything. So to all of you wishing for a skier girl friend, from my personal experience it is a bad idea. Keep skiing and your love life separated. Believe me it fucking sucks.

If this is exactly how the story went, sounds like a busch league move by her OP. And like another poster said, you deserve better if shes fucking around like that. As with anything else, breakups take time, and soon enough you will rekindle your love for skiing and Mount Hood. A summer of skating and biking can help ease the mind before the skiing comes back too. Keep your head up bud shes not worth it

I was working in a shop 12 years ago when I met this not so chill chick. She was a rad skier and was the manager of the softgoods department. I was the new guy running the shop and hardgoods side of things so we had to work together most day. In the beginning, she was a hard ass chick. Didn't put up with shit. The shop crew road together most nights and partied after. Soon I was hoping for the slow ass 2 seat chair just to get some alone time together. Fast forward 12 years..... We are married, have a kid and still is one of my favorite riding buddies.

Sucks man but you just got to seperate the thought of skiing and her . The reality is it’s got nothing to do with skiing the fact that some women will do things like this . I mean next time you meet a woman it might be through some other sport you do . If that goes sour will you say not to mix those two things as well ? It was her and only her

That is definitely a bummer of a situation, OP. As some others have said, I think this may have more to do with the particular person you got involved with. Anytime you find someone with similarly intense passion for something, it can make you blind to personality traits that may have been red flags otherwise. Some have called it "Booty Blind". Despite all this and the generally shitty nature of life and relationships on and off the hill, I have a feeling deep within my loins that you will find a fem shredbot that makes the aforementioned floozy little more than a skid mark on your epic ass (School of Rock reference).

Also, is she on NS? Let's get her involved.

Im really sorry man. Heartbreak is the worst. I hope you get through it to the other side. But I dont think you can say that the actions of a specific girl should deter someone from dating girls who ski. Ive exchanged body fluids with plenty of girls who ski. Some of them were awesome, loyal, inspiring, beautiful girls. Others were braindead sluts. Just like every other group of people, theres great girls who ski and shitty ones. Either way, I hope you find someone who is compassionate and treats you well.

i never really like girls that have the same interests as me as interesting. it seems so stale and boring, since you then can't challenge each other. my ex was not into either skiing or skating, not even the same music. but that was kind of what i thought was fun about it. she tried skating and i went to social events and tried sushi. it ended bc we where more like friends. and we still are. tbh i'm just proud that i converted her from a beliber to listening to lil peep and xxxtentacion. Wu tang next.

I second this!!!!!! I needed it in a similar situation. When you go there just be yourself. Hang with your friends. If your feeling a little down let them know and they will help support you. The beautiful thing is skiing is bigger, no one can take it away from you unless you let them.

ive had so much trouble making long lasting relationships in mountain towns. Everyone is young, transient, and mostly only care about themselves.

For real though, OP I’m really sorry to hear. As said before this is more a shitty person issue than a skier girl/boy issue. Don’t let a shitty person ruin good things for you (I.e Mt. Hood, skiing, etc)

I’ve been cheated on before and the worst thing I’ve ever done is blame myself. Which ultimately lead to me throwing out everything I’ve ever known about myself to change into someone 100% different. Pick your head up and keep doing you. Keep skiing and get back out to Hood. Never give anyone that kind of power over you.

Question, were you two exclusive? If so that’s fucked. If not, then it still sucks but don’t allow this to ruin Hood/skier girls for you.

I’ve dated plenty of skier who ended up being jerks. (Though it wasn’t always their fault.) Had i sworn off men who ski i would never have met my partner, never gotten our dog, and never have the relationship im in. Take a trip to hood, let yourself reconnect to skiing and don’t date jerks.

You’ve got this. Heartbreak sucks but you can’t let one person ruin everything for you. Besides, nothing beats an epic day skiing with your best friend.

1- A better skier than you
2- Has more money than you
3- Is able to provide more for her

hypergamy sucks but it’s just the reality for many females.. there are some good ones though, usually those who were rich before

did you know a male’s natural instinct is to spread his genetic lineage with as many females as possible? On another not a female’s instinct is to find one mate who is able to provice for her and potential offspring, It’s all in the genetics..

money today was meat in primitive days. I’m sorry you went through some shit but when you are young it’s best to take some time to work kn You, and forget all that relationship nonsense.. I’m certain you’ll find a good girl (or guy, if you are into that) at some point
