DieselChevysLast deer season I was walking back from my stand the cabin to warm up and get some food and as I was walking back 2 cougars charged at me and I had just enough time to pop a few shots off with my SKS killing 1 and the other ran away. After that experience I always keep a gun on me when I go into the woods. If I had left my gun in the stand I would have been mauled.

Not to doubt you, but this story sounds very unbelievable.
1- Cougars don't hunt in pairs. Other than when they mate, they are very solitary animals.
2- Cougars are ambush predators. If a cougar was going to attack you, you wouldn't know it was coming until it had already pounced on you. Even if you did see it the moment it leaped from hiding to attack, you would barely have time to shoulder your firearm let alone aim or fire a few shots.
If you did kill a cougar and have pictures of a dead cougar, I would bet that you attracted it to your tree stand with deer calls or estrous or whatever you're using, it didn't notice you there until it got within your shot, so you killed it from your stand without it knowing you were there. That sounds far more believable.
