look and rossi race bindings have a flat heel clicker thinger...same design...look at the thread about the guy who won t-halls with fks bindings...they look like normal Look's with a flat back. now the question still stands, why did they come up with the dildo in the first place?

They're designed like that so that in powder if you release you can easily pop your binding back down, and pull up on the dildo again to have it hold your boot in.
In deep powder it's not solid enough to just step into without it sinking in like 2 feet.

I had no idea what they were for until the other day when I tried a nose-butter in my friends skis and the heels just came directly straight-up out of the heel-peice...so maybe the dildo shape is to prevent popping out on nose-butters.

rossi and look are the same. its the whole rossi dynastar merge thing and so now rossis are identical to looks minus cosmetic. And yes, they were confused when making the ass rams, but they work well so I'm not complaining.

first off... they are kick ass bindings with high performance. Secon, the dildo is so that when your ski pops of in powder you can step in and just give the dildo a good yank. It used to take me forever to get my skis back on (without 'dildos').

BUT they do have their problems. For example i went off a 20 something cliff with a fairly flat landing at sunshine and i sat down with them right on my gooch. I had to rub and massage myself for a long time to make the pain go away.

i agree with freestyla... if you're in madd powder or are on a steep incline (say the roof of a friend's garage 0:D ) then its not even possible to just stomp in and you have to pull up on the 'dildos' to step in good

you're probably right, the biggest booter that i've gone off of is only about 60 feet or so. i havent really had any cliffs to huck, but the biggest one ive dropped is 20 feet, pretty small. i guess thats the price you pay for living on the east coast

The powder idea is not just a side effect, my friends dad has old bindings like that that have bigger 'dildos' and have finger grooves and whatever for it. It's what it's for.

Pivot technology isn't only used by Look/Rossi bindings with the dildo.
My tyrolia bindings do the same thing and don't have the dildo, they have a flat back like most bindings do.

you guys are stupid. the reason the llok like that, is because all the mechanics of the binding are located in the dildo end. Why? well heres a list:

Shortens the required mounting length (dead spot) of the ski

acts as a handle to pull up on with soft snow or excess snow on your boots.

allows them to cleanly utilise tyhe turntable design our knees all love (if they were like salomons, they wouldnt be able to do that. tyrolia has a standard binding that comes close, but its not the same thing)

looks sweet, besst looking bindings in my opinion.

so yeah. while you make take a shot in the ass, its not like salomons arnt any better. ive gotten more fucked up with them back in the day then with any looks. at least there are no shsrp edges on them!
