"A couple in upstate New York is going to court to force their 30-year-old son to move out.

They say he is refusing to leave the house despite multiple notices they gave him.

Michael Rotondo claims legally he wasn't given enough notice to leave.

Court filings allege Rotondo doesn't contribute to the family's expenses and doesn't help out with chores around the house.

His parents have given him five written notices over the past few months telling him he needs to leave. They even claim they've offered to help him get started on his own.

Rotondo is calling his parent's effort "retaliatory."

Neighbors say they're sad to see such a great family go through this, but admit every parent has a limit.

The Rotondos are scheduled to hash it out again in court later this month, about seven weeks before their son's 31st birthday."

I think you can teach a child to be helpless by allowing them to always win against you. This guy is 30 and has probably never been told no by his parents in his whole life. They even had to get a judge to set a boundary for them.

Correct the parents pretty much doomed this man child for life. In many cultures its acceptable for children to live with their families well into adulthood but thats just not feasible in our society where there are many more expectations when transitioning to independence.

Living with your parents into adulthood is one thing (id actually recommend for a little to try to save some money if possible), but completely leaching off them is another.

I'm not saying it was a smart decision adding rent to the cost of life early, I just wasn't interested in pursuing school and so didn't expect support from my mom like an entitled brat. Move at your own pace though

I mean if you move out of town or hate your parents thats reasonable. If you have a good relationship with them and are living in the same town, that's pointless for a lot of college age people in my opinion.

If you don't have a job that's one thing but if you're working full time theres nothing wrong with it.
