Replying to Where do you get your news online?

Wondering which online sources everyone uses to get their news. I'm a bit of a news junkie, so here's my list. I'll often read stories on the same events from both left and right-leaning outlets, in order to try to gain a balanced perspective.

I often start off with news.google.com for a general overview of the day's highlights, although their sorting is frankly atrocious.

Nytimes.com and washingtonpost.com are go-tos, although their paywalls limit the number of free articles you can read per month, and lately WaPo articles are so obviously politically slanted (anti-Trump) as to make them more propaganda than news.

NPR.org has quality content, I often listen to their hourly news broadcast — as an American living abroad, it makes me feel a bit like being home. However, the liberal slant is a bit annoying over time.

Politico.com is really good for balanced political coverage.

For deeper, mostly objective reads, lately I've really been enjoying the website of The Atlantic. The New Yorker also has great writing, until the paywall hits.

Longform.org is also a great resource for those who like to read longer articles.

Quartz (qz.com) often provides unusual, interesting takes on less-covered events and trends. Hit-and-miss on relevance and topicality.

Slate.com is a good touchstone for general, if left-leaning, news. Thedailybeast.com falls into the same category. In the far-left corner, we've got MotherJones.com for environmental and political coverage.

For conservative viewpoints, NationalReview.com is the "classical conservative" go-to; and if you want to peer under the hood at the raw id of alt-right nationalism, there's always Breitbart.com. Fox News if I need a good laugh. Thedailycaller.com also delivers a raw look from the conservative side.

For international news, BBC.co.uk is a good starting point. I also like to get the central European perspective with Sueddeutsche Zeitung (sueddeutsche.de) and Neue Zürcher Zeitung (nzz.ch) (German-language).

At RT.com, you can get the perspective that the Russian government would like you to have on the world.

The Chicago Tribune and L.A. Times also often have very good pieces.

Prize for worst regional news outlet goes to OregonLive.com. How they could have screwed up The Oregonian so badly, I'll never know.

So what great news outlets am I missing out on?
