Beginning of the end for X Games and Dew Tour?

Those are two ski only even viewed by 100,000 people max? X Games and Dew tour are massive events viewed by millions that just happen to have skiing in them.

yeah no sorry mate. the reason dew tour/x games are the dominant competitions is because they have the entire audience of normal people behind them, that watch 'just bc it was on tv'. a fraction that watch would actually know what's going on in terms of the skiing involved. that's why they're big, because they have a huge audience.
find me any person who couldn't care less about actual skiing. 99% says they have watched xgames etc., but i can guarantee they have no idea what slvsh or kimbo even are. heck, I have friends who shred and don't know slvsh. that's the difference

This isn't happening. I also don't think it's necessary for the big contests to die for the little ones to thrive. Xgames has been around since 95, I think 97 for winter. Summer dew tour only around since 05 ish but taking the place of B3, gravity games, etc comps that went on in the 90s and early 2000s but never took off enough. I wish they still could justify doing the 3 stop tour as I love the big events but whatever.

There has been an emphasis on style and creative events for years. People have been trying different things. Some worked, some didn't but you could pull a lot out of them for the future.

Skiings big enough that I think it's healthy to have some different areas.

Also skiers and riders def have input or at least influence in the big even design. In the mid 2000's they had already gotten pretty streamlined. Not we're seeing a lot of cool options getting added. Plaza rail setups, side entry jumps, tubes instead of boxes and flat rails.

Big comps aren't designed by evil corporations. Idk, a lot of people, including the skiers enjoy the course. Obviously not every feature will cater to every skier. Combines with the pressure of big events, that stress if they're struggling doesn't help.

Idk I think it's the same with movies. Some people are throwing huge tricks, some people crushing it down spines, some people are into the more weird stylish creative side of the parks etc, some people are all about that urban.

I'd love to see more mid size, weird ski events, but I don't have a problem with the big ones.
