Tips on saving money for skiing

Sup guys. I was just wondering what are the best ways to make money for a kid who's 17 and doesn't have a job and is trying to save money to ski this year in Australia

In terms of gear... really search for what you want and then go get it when your sure you know what you want. Also sometimes the best time to get gear is right after the season ends. Like right now im looking for some new pants cause the season just ended here in the states. Even though i cant really use them till next season they are still much cheaper now than in 5 months. Also do random small jobs to pick up any money you can get. For me a would go and shovel peoples walks or mow lawns in the summer. Yea it sucks but a tiny bit of money can add up over time.

aight man what you've got to do is take all the money you have rn and buy lotto tickets, like every cent. statistically, you won't win anything, but if you do you'll be set. nobody realises how effective this can be but trust me. keep doing this with any money you make to increase your chances.

Oh true I didn't even think about the ladies. My girlfriend made me broke and im still paying the price (literally).

im 17 too and i got a job as a ski instructor which is awesome because you get hella discounts everywhere and a free pass and you get to ski at work

get a fucking job then. Australian pay is literally one of the best in the world. and it is beyond easy to get a job at Thredbo/perisher

if you're still in school, get a fucking job. work nights or weekends. a perisher student pass is like 400... its nothing.

If you're still in school, unless you have rich parents you just have to cop the fact you won't get to ski much until you've finished school, unless you live in Jindy.

You're 17, start taking some responsibility for yourself. you've literally started a thread asking how to save money when you don't even have a job. 0x0=0

at 17 I had finished high school, moved from Sydney to whistler straight after and was balls deep in British chicks at long horns. if you want it, you can make it happen. you might not have easily accessible skiing, but you've already got a leg up on nearly everyone on this site in that Aus wages are pretty much double everywhere else in the world.

Make a resume and apply for summer jobs. It's a bit late in the year as most employers hire for the summer in March and April, but there are always places which haven't been able to fill their roster. It will be especially easy to find work if you live in a place where there is lots fo summer tourism. The best are ones where you are active outside as that will keep you in shape for skiing. Landscaping, farm work, hiking/bike trail maintenance all are good ones that don't require previous experience.
Also dish washing/bussing at a restaurant, house painting, retail sales. Literally any entry level job will make you some money to save for skiing. Open a bank account (savings account is usually free and gives a miniscule amount of interest). Direct your earnings toward your savings account and forget you have it until you're ready to go. If you are working at a restaurant you will likely get a percentage of total tips earned in your shift, so that can provide some spending money. If you're living with your parents your expenses are likely quite low.
If you're in school you can work on the weekends and evenings until school is out then switch to full time, or get a second job that replaces your school hours.

Just started my apprenticeship so will only be skiing weekends.
Tho money is no problem anymore.

ye thats cool, im still in year 12 which is shit and trying to find a job is annoying bc most shops close at 5 weekdays and i finish school at 4 (which is later than usual i know) so my only option really is weekend work and i dunno where to start aye

Dont know why youre only looking for jobs in the ski industry. Youre 17 you should realize there are far more jobs elsewhere that are potentially better paying or even more rewarding.

Just because you ski you dont have to work in a ski shop.

Just wait for one of your older friends or relatives to get back from vacation and have them explain how it works. The rest of the world has no clue how Australians can take off so much time and still have money to travel. Live the dream and have a blast OP.
