Most bizarre way youve ever damaged your equipment?

So working at a shop and rental season coming to a close, people return their skis etc damaged in crazy ways droppes it off a car blah blah.
Yesterday had a pair where the topsheet was bubbled out and the base was as well... they accidentally set the skis on fire.
So whats the strangest thing youve ever done to hurt your gear?

lmao my room mate left his helmet at the hill overnight and in the morning it was fucking DESTROYED. looked like it got run over by a cat or something

My roofrack detatched from my car on the highway. Straight up ripped off and blew away. The car behind me ran over the rack. I was moving so I had all three of my skis up there. Only my pow skis survived (they still needed new bindings)

I’ve broken my fair share of the old rentals we train on at water ramps in whistler. They Snap right down the middle, got a whole “bone yard” out back there

Going off a 70 ft jump I managed to eject a ski doing a heel clack basically, fell to my somehow harmless death but I turned one of my poles into a race pole from my rib cage landing on it.

Not really damaged but a few weeks ago I went to slide a huge death cookie out of a jump line and it was very frozen into the snow and even going over like 8mph I slammed into it and bent a buckle I think, almost damaged by whole leg tho.

My sidewall started peeling out of my blends from the nose. I showed my coach and he says "nah its just a topsheet chip" and tries to pick off the 'topsheet'. He then rips out my sidewall from the nose all the way to my boot.

I did a tailpress on a box and the entire toe piece of my binding came off. sucked having to slide down the rest of the park on one foot holding a ski.

Also earlier this season I was on my season old pivot 14s and slid a dfdf to switch and one heel piece blew out, metal ring snapped. Homie worked at on site shop so I got cheap pivot 12s put on in 20 minutes.

I was coming up to a midstation on a lift and I saw a sign that said “Keep poles up”. So naturally, I decided to keep my poles down. After dragging them awkwardly for 20 seconds I pulled them up and they were bent at 90 degree angles

Was smoking a joint after skiing, didn't realize because I was baked that I hadn't packed my skis into the car yet. Well I ended up throwin her into reverse & running them over bindings an all.. but somehow they survived unscathed

I pushed the tail tow edge of my board in about 3 inches chipping ice off a box in 05/06.

Ghetto fixed it super legit but board got stolen in the spring anyway.

More stupid than bizzare but I burned my liners badly trying to warm them by the fire in the lodge.

I thought since there was a metal crate blocking the flame it would be all good. Toes got entirely burned through.

My flatmate at uni ruined one of his full tilt liners in the oven, he was trying to heat it it to mold it better but it just shrank away and sorta melted.

Skiing down a little green run with interactive stuff for kids, was quite drunk and hit a metal bell with my pole as hard as I could and consequently snapped my pole.

pissin around on a green slope, put poles between legs, skied over said poles, edge musta been sharp cause they split right in two.
what sucked more was that that day was the first day i skied on em.

Tried to bend a brake with my pole and accidentally folded my pole in half.
Used a snowboard as a jump and cracked one of the high backs on it.
Tried to dry the cores on some janky skis with a campfire and melted the topsheet & base.

Make the bag heavy enough that it can't be thrown ;) I keep having edges and bases separate as one from the rest of the ski for no apparent reason. Also got a gnarly compressed edge on the tail curve of brand new skis and I have no idea how it happened.

Its pretty ordinary, but getting gapers walk in to the rentals skis snapped half of the top ski off and have to excuse: I dont know what happened...it just broke like that.

I had a cheap pair of poles and on a cold day my friend went, "how strong you think these are" and he smacked my pole with his, thing split clean in half.

Not my skis or my fault, but a ski got caught in the freight lift at work. The deck sheared about two inches through the edge, sidewalk, core, base, everything. Pretty surprising how much damage was done, and how clean the cut is. Almost looks like someone tried to cut them in half with jaws of life. Will update with pics if anyone is interested.

Used a ski strap to strap my skis to the side of a skidoo. There wasn’t a rack welded onto this particular doo, so there wasn’t a great place to do it, so I did the best I could.

Well, I did a shit job and the skis fell off the running board / foot hold and i was mobbing up a groomer at the time so the skis dug in but the ski strap didn’t allow them to fall off completely, so one of my skis snapped at the toe piece.

Wasn’t stoked.

Ha, I did that exact same thing this season....threw a fucking fit afterwards but the sticks were all good.

got drunk and spraypainted half my ski poles black, and some of my stone patio

tried to ride my skis through the lot once as there was a fresh coat of snow (didnt want to walk after work), and the rocks made my bases look like they went through a cheesegrater

Was instructing on the bunny hill. Little girl fell at the top of the rope tow so I stopped to help her. While I was bent over, one of the grips on the tow hooked my knee and torqued my knee funny. Snapped my brand new FKS's at the heelplate. Luckily it was cheap to fix

Went into unmarked woods trail that was pretty tight with trees. Once we were pretty far in, we smoked a J then continued down, but the trees kept getting tighter and tighter until the only way forward was a knee-high path that looked like it was carved out by an animal (there were animal tracks, no ski tracks). Being high and kind of freaked out, we decided the best thing to do would be to take off our skis and crawl through this tiny, claustrophobic animal path. Well we got through the path/tunnel but my jacket was totally ripped up from the branches, like 3-4 huge tears. It was a brand new jacket too, one of those tall fitting Orage ones that looks like a skittle...thing was held together with duct tape for the rest of its sorry existence.

I feel like this is a really massive issue that Look needs to fix before it kills someone. I had this happen on a narrow ass run with a 20 foot ledge on one side. It's totally unacceptable that they can just snap like that.

Yeah i think my friend broke some piece connected to the heel (dick) part too doing a 4 on a few years ago. Luckily I was just sliding a dfdf to switch, then got the 12s on a half hour later. Skis being damaged on park shit is inevitable but bindings should be pretty capable of handling it.
