OP is asking for a soft playful ski that can still handle its own, a 106 underfoot medium stiffness ski seems to fit the profile to me. Doesn't matter if it has the name Vishnu attached to or not.

The goal of the wide was to create a more stable ski in the lineup. Basically, something that can pretty much handle any given day at Brighton. I haven't ridden many big mountain specific skis so I may be out of my element here, but I feel comfortable skiing them on any terrain in my ability. Guess I'll have to try and ski some other things next year to gather a comparison. Maybe if you have a friend or acquaintance that buys some wides try them out and see if what I said was true or irrelevant. If you come to Salt Lake hit me up and I'll for sure let you try some ;-)

Yeah man I'm super down to try some. I pretty much only ride stiffer big mountain oriented skis so it would be fun to change pace. I'm not hating on Vishnu I just don't think that a soft jib ski fits the bill for a charger.

I didn't quite get why anyone would want a super stiff charging ski since I could handle 'big mountain' stuff just fine on slightly softer skis, then I got on big mountain charging skis and it makes a WORLD of difference. Stability, speed limit and the general feeling of being in control sky rocket once you're on a stiff pair of charging skis.

If you have the chance, get on something stiff and somewhat directional, just to try it out. It's not my preferred style of riding, but steep lines and fast speeds are both a freaking blast and incredibly easy on skis that were built to be incredibly stable.

f100prerunnerDidn’t know there was something wrong with doing your homework and getting opinions before spending $700 lol. One last question. Is riding the k108 in Park super feasible? I’m pretty bad at park so it’s not like I’m doing a ton of swaps or anything... and for the guy asking about buying two pairs I tend to ride in and out of park on non pow days so would rather not switch skis.

The k108s definitely work well in the park, they are super fun for working on style and going big. That said, a narrower more park oriented ski would be better for learning new tricks and doing bigger spins. Another thing to consider is that the kartels do cost a chunk of change and any ski you take into the park is going to get damaged pretty quickly. For me it was worth it to get a cheaper pair of park skis and the k108. That way on days where I'm only ripping park I can take out my park skis and not worry about killing the edges on my kartels. This helps me keep my kartels in good shape a good bit longer and ultimately saves me money.

Maybe look at the Rossi Black Ops 98? They are more all mountain-y but I have a friend who uses them for mostly park and loves them.
