Advice please. Backland 117 /179 mount position

Just picked up a pair of atomic backland 117 in 179. I got a deal that I could not refuse I’m hoping to use them for all mountain /off trail/ pow/crud/groomers/etc
before I have the bindings mounted Ive been reading people are mounting them +3 foward from recommendation. The standard seems to far back. What do you guys think. ? Ive been out of the game way to long.

where is rec? if its like 6 or 7 back i can see why people would mount +3 to get a more freestyle feel but if its like -3 or -4 id just mount them at rec

I have Chets from last season in 185 and I think the rec is -4.5? back or somewhere around there. I mounted them at -2.5 back and really enjoy them. I've always ridden center mounted skis so they are where I like them even though it fights the ski more than at recommended. Im also pretty light so I don't have a super hard time pow, especially on a 185 (Im 179cm tall), but I think they would be best around rec mount or 4cm back. If its like 6 back I probably would move up a few cm.

Rec for sure. At your size those skis are pretty small so you're gonna want more ski in front of you for better float and stability.

Ended up going +3. As that was 7 back from true center also on a size 30.5 boot They look perfect. We will see this weekend as i will ride them on heavenlys closing weekend here out in Tahoe
