Just picked up a pair of atomic backland 117 in 179. I got a deal that I could not refuse I’m hoping to use them for all mountain /off trail/ pow/crud/groomers/etc
before I have the bindings mounted Ive been reading people are mounting them +3 foward from recommendation. The standard seems to far back. What do you guys think. ? Ive been out of the game way to long

The recommended mounting points on the Backland series are WAY too far back on the ski.
Rather than go plus-whatever from the manufacturers' recommendation, I recommend you/your ski tech measure the true center of the ski (exact midpoint between tip and tail), and go back from there. Standard newschool mounting point is -2.5cm from true center. If you're not much of a switch skier or progressive-mounting-point guy, you can go further back, -4 to -6cm.
All times are Eastern (-5)
