Instagram Copyright Bullshit

So long story short, we posted a video on insta and it got taken down due to copyrighted music. The song was Do not disturb by Smokepurpp, and the edit was str8 gas, and the whole crew was pretty hyped about it, but since we (obviously) used the song without permission the edit got taken down. If anyone could offer any advice on how to dodge the copyright issue that would be much appreciated

Go to the notification that has the red exclaimation sign by it. Click it. There is a screen with a bunch of bs about copyright and a delete button or something like that. On the bottom there’s a blue “appeal” link. In this page check accept and sign your name. Should work after that

Avoiding copyright is difficult and will be nearly impossible in the future. Pick a new song or get rights for your music, pretty much your only option. I would expect copyright on music to get more strict as time goes on, as tech improves to recognize songs (even songs slowed down or sped up) so might as well get used to it now.

The intent of the creator doesn't matter, the video is playing on a website that sells ads, so the site (ie instagram, youtube, vimeo) have systems that flag and delete videos without rights to the music or they could get sued by the label/artist with the rights to the music.

If you want to use copyrighted music in insta posts, just edit your video to the song you want, post it as a REEL where you can add the music back in through the app.

thats good advice but at this point i'm not really that bothered if an insta edit gets taken down. A minute-long edit isn't as important as I thought it was 3 years ago lol. As long as I can post videos on NS and youtube I'm happy

Reels only just released in August, so it's a brand new thing to take advantage of. However, there are limitations to it in terms of length. It works like an insta story where the longest clip you can post is 15 seconds, then you would just have to post the next 15 seconds, and the next... That would admittedly be annoying.

Put cuts in the song with silence. It's annoying. It works. Just try and work them into the edit it can usually beat the automated system. Results may vary
