Cruiser or Mini Dropdown Longboard for cruising? Has anyone taken their skateboard on a plane?

Actually nvm thought the second option was for a penny board. Don't get a penny board.

If you can actually skate then you're better off on something that can be ollied, or at least lift the front wheels. Otherwise it's whatever. Pennys are fun if the pavement is always smooth, you don't need to ollie or slide or do anything of that sort. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. Just get one of the many sort of popsicle shaped, wheel wheel and wheel flared shapes that are out there. They can take sort of big wheels without being monster trucks and have slightly longer wheelbases so it's not as twitchy as a normal skateboard on risers and big wheels. You could run rkps too if you're into that.

If you mean a drop deck like how the landyachtz switch switch is, I personally don't like them. But it depends on what you like. To me, if you're gonna ride something that can't be ollied for cruising purposes, you should make it super reactive and quick to turn. So that means topmount, high angle trucks, soft cone bushings all around and a shorter wheelbase with open bushing seat trucks. That'll actually be fun to pump around and ride, unlike a jumbo wheelbase boat cruiser or drop decks.

Have you guys seen this board? Looks super versatile and fun. If I didn't like the dropdown truck design I could always bring it back up.

Get a penny board if you are doing a little sidewalk riding. They are only good because they are convenient. They are small and light so you can bring em on the bus, tuck it under your desk etc. This is the way to go if you want to just pick up the board and run up some stairs or take the elevator. Also, you could just throw some longboard wheels on a skateboard for basically the same effect.

If you are going to be spending more than the occasional 5 minutes on the board, just buy a good one. A full size bamboo or carbon fiber core makes the world of difference when you are hitting a sidewalk crack ever second. Both these have great shock absorption compared to the cheap plastic of a penny board. Like I said, a wood skateboard deck is almost better than a cheap plastic penny board.
