Secret stashes

I have been wondering a lot about this lately, what are your thoughts on spreading secret stashes to people that don’t know them. Do you think it’s ok to spread these spots? If you can’t find it yourself should you be able to ride the line? I feel like people have varied opinions on this depending what mountain they shred and the culture of the mountain and want to hear your opinions

Bring your friends and riders you know that can shred the line; otherwise, ride it for yourself.

Good areas are always well known. If you think you have a secret line; dont sweat it, so do 100 other riders.

I think its funny how many people go online to ask about "cool hidden lines" or "best urban in x area" or even people who want to know the best hidden hangout spots in a given neighborhood. The whole point is its low key and randos dont know about them. That shit doesnt fly on the internet to random people.

I think this is true about places at mountains, but not sharing good urban spots if someone asked about them would kind of be a dick move. Urban is hard to do by it's very nature and decent spots are hard to find, especially if you're new to an area. It's also not like parts of a mountain where people may ski everyday and track out your favorite line. People don't tend to hit the same urban spot over and over again and even if you did show up to a spot and someone had already been skiing there, it's not that big of a deal, it might even be more convenient if they'd already done the building

tell your friends and shit but please do not post it online so everyone can see. If you hint to it online be creative. i ran into some people in my favorite stashes at stowe the other day. New York tourists. Asked them how they discovered it, they said they read about it online. Shit ends up in a river, I got stuck in hit first time I found it. You put people in danger and fuck up the stash

found a super nice line at Jay Peak from a tele skier I skied with. it's not secret by any means, but it had some blind cliffs with ~20 feet of drop that needed someone to scope them out at the bottom. if Jerry had decided to ski it because he heard about it on the interwebs, he could have hurt himself.

My mountain has a stash called pumping patch. Locals only!!!!! Nah if some dude is out there ripping it up and I meet him on the lift I'll share the wealth.

Hitting a spot that somebody else did all the work setting up is definitely a dick move unless you are 100% sure they are done with it.

I mean if it’s someone trustworthy and it’s closed loop between the 2 of you then that’s different. And you forgot to mention the possibility of putting the spot on the cops’ or sucurity’s radar

The cops part is true, but skiing is a small community and one that most of us care about keeping alive and growing. I just think that in the nature of helping other people out whether you know them well or not, if somebody asks about good urban spots in an area you should help them out.

these are some pretty well known areas that are left untouched because most are either pc or slackcountry
(all at whistler blackcomb)
- saturday & sunday weekend chutes (pc above west bowl)
- apocalypse / puppy chow (in pc area next to opal)
- disease ridge
- pearly gates
and youre never gonna get good snow here if you want to ski it safely, but satisfaction is one of my favourite lines

be careful on saturday and sunday especially - they get really wind loaded and ive triggered slab avys on them
