2018/2019 Armada Arv 116 Zero vs ARV 116???

As far as I know the zero still has the same profile as the jj 2.0. I have this years arv jj and it doesn't have the same elf shoe shape but is super flexible on the tips and tails due to the break in the edge and bevel shape. They are super playful and fun for someone that wants to charge hard but still jib around the mountain. As far as the edges go i wouldn't call them too thick, same as the edollos I ride too, nothing like a k2 or ON3P though.

Yeah, but next year the Zero collection will have the ARV 116 JJ shape instead of the 2.0 THall has been rippin on those on his insta.

next years arv line also receives a thicker edge, I think it goes from like 1.7 to 2.2.

so I guess I’m just wondering if the zero arv 116 has the same flex/edges as the normal arv 116. Just lighter weight overall from a different core?

I asked TYW about his skis he was rocking the other day at snowmass and next years lineup came up. I was curious about the Zero aswel. And honestly I have no clue about the edges, but I would assume they use the 2.2 as Zero is their premium line.

What is your style of skiing? The JJ Zero is going to be more playful, but I’ve heard that the Tracer still has some of those playful Armada qualities. Although, I’ve read that the new ARV 116 is a bit more stable than the old JJ, but still pretty playful obviously as it is Armadas “freestyle pow ski”. I’ve also heard that the Tracer gets a rocker/taper update next year which makes them a bit more playful.

But basically:
JJ Zero- most playful
Arv 116- updated JJ, still super playful, but more stable than JJ
Tracer- Most stable, but still has playful qualities

I hope that wasn’t confusing, I feel like I used the word playful a lot haha.

I find it easier to charge a bit harder on a “heavier” ski. It would probably be easier to push a ski as hard as you can that’s ~2300g per ski as opposed to ~2000g per ski. Those aren’t exact numbers, but you get the idea. It’s nice to have a ski with a little bit of beef to it from time to time. I wouldn’t think that the 2019 BentChet would be bad at all.
