SLVSH Subscriptions?

It’s pretty obvious how big of an impact the most recent slvsh cup had on freestyle skiing, the amount of people following it and passionate about it was awesome to see on NS, YouTube, and IG.

How are we not paying for this?

It would be sweet having an even bigger cash payout to attract more more skiers, sponsors, and viewers and I think we should help with this.

I thought about monthly subscriptions to slvsh, however this would drive less keen people away which is a con that comes with the pros of charging viewers. Then I thought about a kind of like a pay per view system for just slvsh cups. This would also drive a certain crowd away. Then I naturally thought of a kind of donation/contribution and I don’t see why Matt and Joss wouldn’t be down for that.

Bottom line is that slvsh is “the best thing to happen to skiing in a while” and I want to contribute further than just giving them views.

I wouldn’t want a pay per view system but what could be cool is them doing a monthly subscription that gains more access to content along with some exclusive slvsh merchandise only available to subscription holders.

This would be sick, maybe you get early access or you get to vote on what games you want to see.

The moment you put a price on something you lose 98% of the people.

It's sad but its the reality. it could be 0.01$ and they'd still lose a big chunk of the audience.

the best way to get value out of their content is free distribution through youtube or their website IMO

They're getting incredible numbers with their view counts. At that point its up to them to sell/package it well for brands.

but for the single consumer aspect, i just think people are just too lazy and that the step of taking out your wallet to pay for something is just one too many. People are being conditioned to free stuff everywhere. And just to clarify im not saying theres not people whod want to pay, im saying there wouldnt be enough to make it financially viable and its a big renonciation cost from all the exposure the free format gets.

I agree that SLVSH games should stay free,but I think that if there was a subscription that gave you early access or more cool stuff alot of people would buy it to support slvsh.

I agree, i'd like to see how NS would respond to a sort of kickstarter funding to help out slvsh

they could definitely go the youtuber route and open up a Patreon. let people that want to donate, donate and maybe toss donors some extra content or goodies? Still keep a majority of stuff free on youtube and open to the public, but I know there's people that would willingly give them money to keep doing what they're doing

One option to consider is sponsor versus regular content options. For example, Rooster Teeth (gaming video site) and Maximum Fun (podcast network) both provide sponsors with bonus content and early access. Usually, there is also a series of different payment levels with varying levels of reward, it definitely allows for varying levels of support and would allow those that want to pay to be able to support while everyone else could still enjoy the majority of the content on a regular weekly schedule.
