Moment Bibby/Wildcat vs Kartel 116

Hey guys,

looking for a ski to replace my Bent Chetler.
Want something a little more stable, but still playful.

What do you recommend?

Bibbys are pretty chargy, I'd imagine the Kartels being more playful. The Kartels also have a more centred mount point.

Bent Chetler is a noodle. Love my Bibbys, they're significantly stiffer than my friends bents but still playful. Idk how much more stable you're trying to get but the Bibbys seem to offer a lot more than the bent. From the blister reviews the kartel sounds like it's a good intermediate between the two. Rec on the Bibby is -6 but can be pushed forward if you want and I think it's -4 on the kartels.

Do some research on Blister, I think everyone here including myself will hype up the skis they own. Also not many people have ridden both. That said, I fucking love the Bibby.

Hey guys,

thanks for the answers. I supsected it to be something like that. From reading about it, I actually like both a lot.

I just found a used Bibby (very colourful one, i think 11/12) on ebay for cheap in good shape judging fron the pictures. unfortunately it is mounted with a rental binding.
Should I save the money and get a new one or has it got enough life in it after these years?

I know it's confusing, but the one you found is actually not Bibby, it's Moment Governor in 196cm length. As I remember it was called Bibby special for one year and then it was renamed. Check Governor description, it has almost flat tail, it's stiffer. Different ski

Yeah, but Bibby was never made in 196cm. Lengths were 184 and 190 (original model), or 186 and 192 (2013-2015 models). This 196 BIbby special was later renamed to Governor and it is different ski to original BIbby. This one is the only year when it had Bibby topsheet. Anyway, you can ask guys at Moment to clarify this

I don't think anyone can give you a good answer without knowing the actual price you're talking about and the actual condition.

Might be worth your time to get a newer model and put a real binding on them...

186 Kartel 116 is much more playful than the 190 Bibby Pro. The Kartel still has a good backbone to it though, with On3p's damp core layup. The Bibby is ultimately more stable, but gives up a lot of "playfulness" in order to achieve that feel. I like the slightly more forward mount point on the Kartel too.

From my experience, that backbone also gives up a lot of playfulness. At least for me. Maybe I'm just light with my 5'10 150, but I definitely felt less comfortable throwing and spinning Kartels that are 2400-2500gr each, comparing to 2100gr bibby

I have not ridden the Kartel 116 for very long (only about 3 laps on a buddy's pair) so I will not comment on them, but I have ridden the bibbys many times over the last 3-4 years. Quite honestly, I think riding the bibby feels more similar to the ON3P Billy Goats than they do the K116s. Bibby is playful, yes, but it is a hard charging, line crushing ski that is fun as hell but doesn't have that noodley-ness your Chets do.

Might I recommend the Nomad 115 and Nomad 125 from Icelantic? Both are more playful skis with the N115 having camber and being able to charge more and the 125 having full rocker that gives you a loose surfy feel but is still able to retain edge hold on groomers for fast laps.
