Is K2 getting worse?

They are made in china now. Their quality control is better this season than it has been in the past couple of seasons.

They've been made in China for at least as long as K2 has been making park skis. It could be that you've progressed and are skiing harder now, hence breaking gear more quickly. Sometimes you just get a lemon. I have noticed a general decline in quality from most large ski brands though. Perhaps they are trying to create a public mindset that park skis are disposable.

If they delam just warranty and buy a ski instead that is not a budget tweener ski. Really though you said the press was ok a few years ago but since then you have probably progressed so you should prob be on the sight or poacher which will both hold up much much better for the level you are at.

Other than the metal rivets (one fell out, whatever) my Domains are holding up and skiing super well. I’m starting to ride again after 5 years off and I’m beating the living hell out of them trying to relearn everything.

I’ve owned Armada, Elan, Pre-K2 Line, Fischer, and two pairs of K2s and honestly all of them were similar build quality. With the price that I got my 2017 Domains ($350 USD with 2018 Attack 13s), I have to say they were the best bang for your buck ski I’ve ever purchased. If I wasn’t relearning I probably would have spent more and got ARVs, E-Dollos, Magnuses, Junkyard Transfers, or Blends but honestly now I’m finding that they probably weren’t worth double the money as my K2s. If anything I’d buy ON3P or HG skis just because they’re small companies owned by skiers and they are made in America.

The press are my second pair of skis this season. My first pair was some old volkl mantras i picked up which i thought wouldnt be as durable in the park compared to the cap construction on the press but they actually were. The mantras held up wayyyy better and i pretty much only used them in the park.

Of course they did. They are a full sidewall ski with two layers of titanal that ski will hold up way better then a cap teen ski.

It all all comes down to getting a ski which will work rather then one the right price. You get what you pay for.

Oops, sorry I meant they have a new factory in china. Either way, I have noticed a significant increase in the quality of their skis this year. The pinnacles actually have an equal amount of metal on both sides of the ski and it lines up with the bump in the topsheet. I have barely seen any poachers come in with big delams vs the shreditor 92 which blew up all the time. The konic 84 TI is a fucking awesome ski too. K2 is making really fun skis again. And next year they are ditching the foam in the pinaccle 88

Good rule of thumb is to never expect a foam core ski to last more than one season, and if you are an experienced park skier, probably less. Busted edges are one of the damages that most companies won't warranty and a lot of edge info on skis sites seems incorrect. Look at them in a shop and skis with beefy edges will probably hold up well. My 2016 armada b dogs have like 60 park days and have yet to edge crack. I had some 2016 head caddys started to have edge separate from the ski near the tail after a season and two weeks at hood. I warrantied them and got a pair of 2018's that haven't had any problems but I haven't used them enough for any real damage. I was lucky enough to get them replaced by directly emailing head but I bought them online and didn't want to go through the shop that I got them online from. If purchased in store I'd absolutely recommend contacting the shop first because they are the best at dealing with warranties and will know the best people to contact. Also always make sure to keep the receipt when purchasing skis.
