Quality Snowpants under $300

Hi,

Midwest skier (for the next year) before I move out West following graduation. Transitioning from a park skier to more all mountain/backcountry skier. I’ll be spending this entire summer at Hood.

What are some brands to look at for snowpants? Traditionally, I’ve always gone with something like Saga or Bloom for the park style, but that’s becoming less important to me while breathability and waterproofing are becoming more importanr (especially considering where I will be skiing in the near future).

Check out Strafe and Patagonia's websites. Both are having good sales right now.

Strafe Temerity will be very breathable for a waterproof pant, but wouldn't be my first choice for super wet snow / rain. It's super cheap right now though, so if they have your size, this would be a great choice.

Patagonia Descensionist would be fairly similar to the Temerity, but slightly more breathable. Nice baggy fit too, but it's very light and wouldn't be my first choice for park / taking a lot of falls.

Patagonia Refugitive will be a bit burlier than the Descensionist but less breathable.

Patagonia Powder Bowl will be crinklier than the Refugitive but more burly. Similar breathability to Refugitive (maybe a bit worse).

$300 for pants? If you are a dentist thank you for supporting our economy. Buy yourself some brand new gear from some northwest brands like Trew or Homeschool, save the environment and buy some Pattigucci or be a big BA and hook up a brand new Free Thinker suit from TNF. Otherwise look at all of these brands and brands like Virtika that have real 20K+ fabric and look for huge clearance sales. I've been able to hook up full suits for way less than your budget for pants.
For summer you don't need the high tech pants but you'll get a way better price if you shop now.

Yeah dog I know, but I'll be living out of a tent all summer, so I need something that's gonna stay dry after some crashes in the slush so I don't have to worry about drying it in the woods.
