Washing Ski Pants

I have had my pair of ski pants for about 3 years now and haven't washed them once, but I have some friends who wash theirs every month. When is a good time to wash them?

Just play it safe and dont wash them. Ever. Or maybe when they give you a leg rash.

You can put them in your washing machine on low and the coolest water temp, no detergent. And idk when the fuck is the best time to wash them

Wash them whenever you want, just dont dry them in the dryer

just remember to always keep your pants soggy. dryers have been known to cast spells on ski pants. play it safe man

You should try to wash them like 2x a season so you don’t smell like ass 24/7. Get some basic detergent like all with oxyclean, you don’t want fabric softener or anything in it. Then follow the instructions on your garment for washing and drying. Usually you air dry but you might need to toss it in with a towel on medium to reactivate the dwr.

You should have one or two layers between your skin and the pants. That will pretty much absorb all the funk. Just wash your base/mid layers

There should be some sort of washing instructions on a tag somewhere on the jacket or pants, because it depends on the fabric a lot of times.

I had an REI jacket with the "event" fabric. It first got dirty then eventually totally wetted out.... Just soaked up water. I ended up washing it cold with no detergent to get all the dirt out. I then washed it again with this NIKWAX product that brought the waterproofing back.

Its kinda a process so I wouldn't do it often... maybe once a season.

You have to wash your pants if you shit them. That can happen sometimes if you really case it

Depends how much I ski. If my pants are really dirty from travel or mud, then yes. If they got really wet from sweat on a spring day or snow in general then yes as well.

But typically just once or twice a season.

Why is everyone getting downvoted for saying "don't wash them"? Ski pants don't get smelly. I wore the same pair for 130 days this season. I just stuck my head in and took a huge whiff and they smell like nothing.

Idk man my snowpants and jacket get pretty stanky from sweat by the end of the season. Long mogul runs get u sweating and spring days without base layers when it's hot out leads to sweat. That and if you do any touring/hiking you definitely gotta think about washing them.
