Rossignol Soul 7 Which Size

Hey gang, I know this is yet another which length ski thread, but I really do need your help! I'm 5'10.5and 190-195lbs. I'm conflicted between the 172cm and 180cm, solid intermediate skier. Thoughts on whether it's worth it to go for the 180? I don't get a ton of days on the mtn every year - typically < 10 days and mostly in the PNW (Squaw, etc). Today I ride an older rossignol sultan 85 ski (full camber) at 172cm. Thanks!

Do yourself a favor and steer clear of the awful soul 7. One of the most over marketed/over hyped pieces of junk ever created. No torsional stiffness, it's an old man ski haha

The Rossignol Soul 7 is super easy to ski so it makes a great powder/soft snow only type ski for a lightweight beginner/intermediate as it's very soft and light so not great at speed or on harder snow. You can spot the front tip flapping on groomers from the lift on those skis!

Atomic Vantage 100, Elan Ripstick 106, Blizzard Rustler 10, Head Kore 105, K2 Pinnacle 105 or Nordica Enforcer 100 would all be easy to ski, yet offer higher performance especially once you improve your ability. All these skis would be best in the 180-188cm range for you as they all have rocker so ski shorter than your current skis.

Thanks @greg_k, I'm really liking what I'm reading about the Head Kore 105s! In terms of torsional stiffness and stability, apparently the Soul 7s have been improved with both the 2017 and 2018 models. Were you aware of this when recommending those other skis? I've heard those complaints about the Soul 7s in the past, but those improvements were why i was considering them now. Thanks again!

Yes, familiar with their yearly upgrades to try to make it better on hardpack etc. but even the latest Soul 7 HD models pale in comparison to a ski like the Kore 105 when it comes to all mountain performance. The Kore skis are very solid feeling yet are very light and easy to ski. A 180cm Kore 105 would easily outperform the 188cm Soul 7 HD.

Welp, I'm convinced - happy I checked with yall. Will see if I can find the Kore 105s in 180cn - seems like a super popular ski/length. Thanks!

The soul 7s are way too tapered as well. This makes them easy at the expense of stability
