mystery3Go ride rails on your race skis until the edges fall out? It might teach you to be a better skier?
ColingarnesHave you considered murdering your parents?
A.Marsh.When I first started skiing my parents bought me crappy beat up race skis. For my first two years, I taught myself how to grind rails on them and learned basic jump tricks. if I were you I would do the same thing and when you get good enough, show your parents and say the only way I can improve more is by getting park skis. Or just break them "accidentally" and tell them if you get park skis they won't break.
THE-Albino*When your dad is in a good mood or drunk show him one of your favorite edits an persuade him you need them.
OregonDeadWe've already covered this in depth OP. Here you go-

DirtYStylEJust phrase it in a way that they will understand. Something like,
"This would be like trying to drive with a putter".
This would work if they like golf, pick something that they used to be passionate about
Crispy. Can't believe no one has said the obvious...
Would you rather have me on park skis or heroin?
The referenced post has been removed.
deadsmokemediayou could always just buy an old pair of boards from a friend of some within your community thats getting rid of an old pair, and then just deal with the consequences from your parents afterwards..
Obie.Tell them that if you get good enough.. you have the possibility of being sponsored by Target, which can fuel your mother’s Franzia boxed wine addiction.
....In all seriousness though tell them you’ll likely get bored with normal alpine downhill & would like have the appropriate equipment to take full advantage of your untapped creative outlook on the mountain.
Growing up in the Midwest I Iikely would’ve given up on skiing — or at least not have skied nearly as much w/ out the introduction of full wood core, lively twin tip skis.
They open a closed door that makes a fun, outdoor recreational “sport” 10x more fun.
Park_RangerYo you still owe me lunch. Super fucking rude, man...
LukeTheWaffleI only hit rails for a day on race skis, and it's a bit harder but not by much, aslong as you lock in you'll be fine. The next race I went to I got in the bottom quarter, because I literally was unable to carve (I normally place in the top quarter)

SkibumsmithI remember when I first started mowing lawns for money. I wasn't old enough to own a credit card and there aren't any ski shops in my little rural town. I figured out how to purchase skis online by sending a money order in the mail or using paypal (paypal was still pretty new). My parents were shocked when ski gear started showing up in the mail. I bought a pair of JO Pros and a pair of Hellbents. My mother wasn't happy with either choice.
