Any thoughts on which ski?

Spring is here and its the best time for me to buy new skis. I'm not rich and I'm a one ski in my quiver kind of dude. I'm 6 1 and 180 pounds. ive been looking at the arv 106 in 188 the sir francis bacon in 185 and even the arv jj 116. my only concern about the arv 106 in 188 is that it might be to long of a ski as I usually ride 184-185 which they don't have that size. I would like to buy the jj 116 but I don't do enough pow skiing to justify that buy and feel the width would be a problem just taking laps with the boys on the groomers. the bacons are dope I just question the durability of any line product cuz ive had a pair that went in 2 seasons and like I say I don't have that much $ to be dropping on skis every season. what you guys think? any other suggestion for an all mountain shredder I'm not thinking of. I'm an aggressive skier and my park days are behind me.

i guess i should have done a bit better of a description. groomers are the last thing ill be using these skis for. i mean every once in a blue moon to get from point a to b and when i just want to take it easy

I'd say 40% powder and 40% off piste and crud and 20 % running around the mountain with my head cut off. I don't slide rails anymore and I lap it through the park on an occasion to hit a couple jumps 3 or 4 times a month. I'm moving to montana here at the end of the summer and money will be tight so I'm looking to buy now why i got the coin and all the shops are looking to unload

Word, if you r moving to Montana then hop on the jjs for sure or the K2 catamarans. Both bomber pow skis that still rip the whole mountain really well. I ski hellbents on groomers at baker and have to say that I'd much rather go too wide than too skinny for the pow performance. You can still have plenty fun on groomers with pow sticks

Cool man I was just a bit intimidated at the underfoot cuz I've never owned a pair that wide. I imagine once I get used to the width it'll be just another pair of skis huh?

Yes deffiinently, I know multiple guys ripping baker daily with 110+ skis and even on groomer days and shit conditions they have a blast

I have the 2016 JJs and have absolutely no problem on groomers. I spend most of my time in the woods or steep moguls and I really like them. People like to say JJs can't handle chop but if you are a good skier you can charge on them

Thanks guys. I'm pulling the trigger 2morrow and buying the 116. I'm super pumped and only hate my mountain is showing signs of dirt and rock so I think I'll pack up and hit tahoe within the next few weeks. My first fat ski, kinda like my first fat something else. Hahah

i was thinking the 185. do you think the few cm are going to make much difference. also I'm looking at binding and i like these jesters i found at evo the brake width is 120 leaving me only 2 mm on each side think ill b ok?

Eh yeah if your over 6 ft I'd def go for the 192, and jesters are alright I'd try to find some attack 16s insted

These things are dope. I mean I haven't rode them yet but a man can imagine. I couldn't get a hold of any attacks at the price range I was looking for so I went with the jesters. I always wanted to have 2 snowboards strapped 2 my feet!!!

Go at -2 from center. I have a buddy with jjs and that where he mounted his and loves them

I love my ARV 106’s as a do everything ski. Granted I only get 7-16 days a year living in Missouri. I am headed west to find some deep snow to see how surfy my new 116’s are. Took the 106’s to Hood last season and got 20” in two days and they were great, but turn initiation in deep stuff wasn’t quick enough for my liking. It was a beast through crud and groomers. I’m a Jerry for sure, but the 106’s gave me the confidence to ski at 50 mph without a thought.
