Shipping Skis International (US to NZ)

So I have a question about shipping skis, has anyone used LuggageForward, or a similar company to ship skis internationally? Or did you use FedEx, UPS, DHL? How was the service?
I am planning to ship skis from US to New Zealand, but I am unsure which is the best (perhaps affordable and reliable) way of doing so. Let me know your thoughts!

Are they brand new or second hand ? Shipping anything large here is real expensive , and if they are new the import tax can be a bit of a shock. If you have the option the best thing to do is to bring them in your luggage or have someone thats coming over bring them in their luggage . All the main shipping company's do a fine job if you want to go that way but just keep in mind if they are brand new they could easily get stuck in customs for a week waiting for tax payments and clearance

They are new, but I have bought them in US, placed them in a ski bag, and left them at home; my family will be sending it to me to NZ from US. So I don't think the tax applies if I already own the skis?

Yea the tax wont apply. Just make sure they are not wrapped in original packaging or have stickers and prices on them because some times they can be picky .
All times are Eastern (-5)
