Why is skiing so rowdy?

i have seen the past couple weeks some weird rowdy shit, especially on ig, i have no idea but i think there was some event of some sort. but i felt like it was skiblades, "Jerry" clothes and tons of beer. i think the "Jerry" concept is great and all that but they take it way far. i think it has lot's to do with murica, because we never have Gaperdays in Norway. but also that "ski or die 666" thing is some fucking wild shit. heavy metal has lot's to do with Finnish culture. but how the hell did that get into skiing? and all the cut off doll heads, i really think it's wild, but no place for me. myself i don't really fuck with alcohol. both because i'm underage, and because i can't stand the taste and feeling. but Apres or whatever that shit is called is also rowdy as fuck. fannypacks (worn correctly, not trendy over the sholder) and colorful skisuits (for you that think that is european, it's more american tbh) and those fucking shot skis. i think those are the cancer of skiing. my uncle gave me a lesson about those things and that him and his friend made one of those when they turned 18.

i feel like i tracked off, but i just wanted to give my opinion. tell what you think about rowdy skiing

I'm not about boozing or smoking and skiing, but if someone wants to do it and can safely then rock on. I would just never be able to forgive myself if I got hurt.

As for acting like a fool and dressing like you're out of an 80's ski movie, etc.... Sure why the fuck not? Let er rip. Skiing is about fun with friends and meeting new ones, not showing up in your Audi SUV with the family or business buddies dressed to the nines in Spyder and Northface attire snapping into DPS skis (well it can if u want, but I prefer the down to earth less "I'm better than you" kind of person).

And how dare you trash the shot ski! I do know of a Hofbrauhaus (I believe Pittsburgh, or maybe Columbus--can't remember) that banned these because it would get so rowdy.

You'll like alcohol.... One day you will.... You'll like beer.... One day you will.... Trust me. We've all been there and said the same things. Welcome to growing up.

I'm totaly fine with not drinking. I have sober friends. I've done year-2 years periods sober after head injuries. It's all good, I'm only saying this because eveybody says "It's not my jam, I don't like the taste, etc" and then 90% of them end up being total party sloots.

Shot skis are fantastic. Instead of bonding with a stranger over a shot, bond with a stranger or 3 over a shot out of a fucking ski. How can you beat that. Ski your skis hard in the day, then use them to drink liquor by night, afternoon, or just fucking send er at 10am.

The whole "I don't want to drink" dealio is a cute and admirable goal, but realistically it doesn't go that far. I'm not hating on any of my friends that ski the fuck out of the slopes, and don't drink a drop, I'm just saying ski culture in general. It also seems like it's actually mellowed down. Most people are at least sober enough to put their skis on and make some sort of turns toward the bottom.

Ski hard party hard yo. If you don't drink that's chill but I honestly think skiing could stand to get rowdier. Bring back some of that OG Hood Crew shit boys. Freesking started as a counterculture offshoot of an action sport and the partying has been intertwined since the beginning. We can't turn our backs on history

i think this is basically the link that OP is asking about. freeskiing has historically been kind of a party sport so it attracts the kind of people who want to do rowdy shit and not always take it seriously or do it by certain guidelines, it's why drinking and skiing is such a thing and why people get flak for training and stretching and shit haha.

OP don't worry about drinking, if you like eventually youll like it, if not no worries and you will be able to find crews who don't consider it part of skiing. just as none of us are required to ski in a way we don't care to, neither are you!

just don't be surprised to see a lot of it cause for lots of us skiing is a party sport. think 90s, dudes wearing goofy shit and spouting off about "livin free" and "feeling aliiive man," being on the edddge. it's evolved from that corny shit to some extent but the same self-selected group of people comprise the skiing world nowadays

Skiing is basically a do whatever the fuck you want sort of deal. Only metric is how hard you shred. I wear a giant 90s ski suit, ski with no poles, and do Daffys and spread eagles off of everything. I taught myself 180s this weekend and overall I think I'm pretty fucking sick. I don't drink and shred often, but when I have, it's pretty fun. You'll get older, don't hate on people, just have a good time. Speaking of which, if anyone wants to do a daffy train, catch me lapping Peruvian on the weekends

Apres ski gets super rowdy in Norway, and the new wave is pretty much a product of scandinavia. I've seen the demonic shit in the US but have noticed it to be more common in the Norwegian park scene.
