LamSobinskyIf u gotta a Mac iMovie comes free and its the shit for making good looking edits very fast.
LamSobinskyPirate adobe premier lol
EmilDeschampslol i did that with vegas 14 but its so annoying with video formats so i dont use it. I may try it with adobe tho good idea
Ryan5_MNIf you're in school you can try to get a student discount on adobe apps, its a bit more $$ but you can just pay monthly and its not to bad. Premiere pro is what I use, it has just about every feature you could need and there are a billion of tutorials all over the internet to learn how to do just about anything from simple edits to heavy fx.
GuesstimatePremier is fantastic.
I'm not a good filmer or editor at all, but I still enjoy doing both. I fucked around with a bunch of freeware/trial options before just going to premier, it's the best I've used so far. It's as intuitive as a video editor can get without lacking features and runs pretty well on my fucked comp

MitchWAndrewI’m a filmer I got a sony a6500 with some kit lenses and some other shit and first of all I love using GoPro for skiing because i hardly ever need to color correct much with it and it’s easy to use and perfect for getting the shots up there. Second off use adobe premiere pro cc it will look very confusing but trust me after using it for a week you will get used to it. My recommendation is look up some YouTube vids to help you make smooth transitions and how to add ambient sounds and different fixed sounds to fit what is going on istead of a windy GoPro sound while hitting a rail you can put some music in the background with a YouTube converted smooth rail slide sounds with also a mountain ambient sound your vids will be looking cash.
MitchWAndrewVideo formats hahaha bro just export in H.264 that’s the standard for everything and then then also make sure it’s on high bitrate when exporting
EmilDeschampsyeah haaha I dont know whats H.264 and high bitrate but Im gonna watch some youtube tutorials to learn a bit more about formats and all that its confusing when you are not used to it hahaha but thanks so much man
MitchWAndrewYa no problem I’m gonna save you an hour of confusion that you honestly do not need in your life when you get adobe premiere and finish a project to export the video go file -> export -> click the blue underlined text name the video and put location at desktop then there will be a drop down menu at the top of the screen it’s your codec just go into it and scroll down till you see H.264 then when you export your video will be able to be moved to your phone YouTube and anything H.264 is the standard codec or format that everyone uses
RparrI used to use premiere but I can’t be arsed to pirate it again. I actually used windows movie maker for a while because all my edits are is clips strung together, but they discontinued that. The closest thing I’ve found to premiere that’s free is a program called hitfilmexpress. Currently compiling an edit with it and am very happy with how it’s going
SuckMySkisDon't fucking buy adobe's programmes. Crack them from get into PC page. If u need I can send you the links

eheathI wouldn't necessarily don't buy them, Adobe offers great rates to students, it's $20/mo for ALL adobe programs. If you only want premiere pro its $10/mo, if you're serious thats nothing.
For OP, pretty sure gopro has free software you can edit with, I haven't search around for free video editors for awhile either, but I'm sure something exists for windows.
MitchWAndrewCheck out my video I jut posted to newschoolers I made that with the power of premiere pro I think you will love it
chef_boyardeeA lot of people shit on iMovie, but as long as you steer away from some of the more naff effects, it can be used to produce some decent edits. But if youre going to pay for software, premiere is the way to go. It's better than final cut (my opinion) and can be used along side other programs like after effects. I would consider getting the student plan, it's still expensive but you get access to a lot of stuff.
SuckMySkis+yeah investing money in adobe programmes is a smart investment. But considering they are so easy to get why wouldnt you go for the free way. I think that buying adobes is when your actually making money out of this content creating
jpostukCheck out davinci resolve. It was originally just a colour grading software but now it has a really solid editor built in. Its also free which is a huge plus. Layout is similar to premeir pro so if you know anything about that its super easy to start using.
skiP.E.I.I use lightworks. It's free.
jpostukDid that get better ? I tried it like 5 years ago and it was super clunky and awkward.
Christian_BaleI use premiere but davanci resolve is free and I've heard good things about it
Zoey72I recommend Adobe Premiere Pro, this is the best
STEEZUS_CHRI5TIt's been 5 years, hopefully he can still get that student discount
