no it was a a like 40 ft table and i had a shitload of speed so i blew him over. Ne ways yea i waited 4 ski patrol then they took me to managament and kicked me out for the rest of the year (i wasnt very nice to them).

I know exactly how you feel. This one time I was going down for a big jump. I even asked the people on the chair lift above me if the jump was clear, along with the people next to me.. they all said yes. So I went for the jump, As I'm coming down for the landing I see a kid just chilling on the landing.

My skis land directly on top of him, and then pop both of them off. Sends me into a superman way down the hill. I didn't realize it right away, but I had broke my wrist badly. I ran up there to see if he was ok. I had knocked him out, I'm pretty sure he broke his shoulder, arm, along with cuts from the skis.

Afterwards people were bitching at me nonstop.


In your case, I don't think yelling at the staff helped. And while I completely understand what you're saying.. ski patrol blames you because ''the person in front of you has the right of away''.. even though the other rule in the ski code is not to stay on areas where you are obstructed by terrain and people can't see you.

I've been trying to figure out a way to see the landing of jumps. Something that would let you know what was behind, or below the jumps. I have a couple ideas, but I figure if everyone on this site thinks about it, we can come up with something.

^pajibber, I remember reading about a few places that had installed some mechanisms to alert skiers when a landing was obstructed. I think snowpark in oz had set something up?

You could do something like a red/green stop light on the side of the jumps. And have infrared lights pointing on the landing and when the light stream is interrupted the light flashed red.

where i ski there are ropes/fences that gate off the side of the jump and go down along it for about 30 feet so that nobody can cut the jump or cut andbody jetting down the landing

There r always people like that i my resort!!! N our 60 footer landing is like a big icy pitch so beginners always have a hard time down it n they always pu there selfs in the middle! It pisses me so off! N e next year my resort (bromont by the way) probably gonna make a park pass, 10 dollars at the beginning of the year.. its a good idea but afterwards u cant bring in ur friends who dont park as much or only kome like once... O well everything has there ups and downs

You could have people in the park staff stand next to the jumps and let you know when you can go... for instance. If someone fell or someones in the way, they raise there hand, if you can go, they lower there hand... sometimes our park staff does that on the popular jumps.

yeah dude my first thinking was big mirror but way to many people would just run into it.

the infrared thing isnt a bad idea, but youd have to have crazy gate things the whole way down the side of the landings on both sides for that to work.

Best thing i can come up with is to wait until someone in front of you goes, and if he doesnt do anything indicating someone is there and if he doesnt bail, then go for it.

same thing happened to me today kind of i was just skiing normally pretty fast though and this kid was pizza'in really slow(this was a black run) and there was a fence on my left and i had way to much speed to stop so i flew myself to the right bailed huge my backs fucked now and the little kid slipped on a bit of ice and started crying and the mom came and bitched at me when i was at the lodge fucking whore i could of killed her fucking kid if i didnt crash what a bitch

I was skiing w/ my friend today and this like 40 year old guy is like making all these turns and then was about to go off the jump, but my friend is like straight-lining it into the jump and is yelling at him to move then the guy ends up going around the jump, so my friend thinks it alight so he goes on with his jump and he starts spinning and this guy takes a turn right onto the landing, my friend somehow ends up spinning over him, then the guy is like 'what are you doing man?' My friends like 'dude you and I are so fucking lucky we didn't get seriously hurt.' It was the stupidest shit ever, fucking idiots in the park

I fucking hate it when people carve on the catwalks and carve across the whole damn thing, there already going like 2 mph and they carve it really pisses me off.

and then in this little kiddy park thing they have little tunnels and we were going through them and there was this one that made a 90 degree turn and there was this woman and her little kid stopped on the other side of the turn so you couldnt see them at all and they were like adjusting there gloves or something and my friend ran right into them and the woman started yelling but my friend said what the fuck are you doing and called her a dumb bitch.

this is a case of people losing what they could have fixed. if you go and cuss people out, they arent gonna help you, and you give all of us a bad name. you need to keep your cool, talk it through with the people that are doing what you see as wrong, and see if you can resolve it. getting pissed doesnt solve anything

thats fucking dumb you need fight that. every park has one of those signs in the entrence that says it's for experts only and you have to have know what your doing and all that shit so it's the kids fault leagly. 3 years ago when i was still snowboarding i hit this step down and there was this kid unbucklying his bindings on the landing and i smacked right into his back. nothing happened to me but i think he got really hurt.

today i hit a rail, and a snowboarder decided to sit down right at the bottom of the rail and i came out switch and went right overhim, he then appolized cause he knew he was in the wrong spot sitting at the landing.

the downhill skiier rule is good out of the park but its a different sotry in the park. Resorts should say this especially if dickheads are going to danger themselves and everyone by hanging out on top of the jump!
