I'm going to whiteface for the first time next week. Does anyone have any advice of what I should do or see while I'm there? Any suggestions that could make my trip better are much appreciated!
Saranac lake is cool. They have railroads that are fun to walk down at night with dogs. And they have borracho taco which is open SO LATE. Also Mt Pisgah will be an experience that allows you to appreciate EVERYTHING.
Go to a bar and befriend a Whiteface employee and buy one of there chits(employee comp tickets)
It might not be deep, but it's pretty fucking steep. Whiteface has the vert. Catch it on the wrong day and you'll see why people call it ice face though.
It's a dope mtn though. I used to ride there a few times a season 9-15 years ago.
If you can catch it on some proper packed powder mornings some of them groomers are the fucking tits.
I skied there two days this year, the first day was basically ice with like 20 trails open, it was tall but it wasn’t really fun. The second day it nuked the whole day starting at opening and it was the 3rd best day of skiing in my life (1st and 2nd were in aspen when they got like 7 inches and i did my first double blacks). For some reason i hated mountain run the first day, but the 2nd day it was by far my favorite run because it had 8-9 inches of snow on it (my first legit powder day). Only thing i don’t like about whiteface is they take so long to make snow and open runs. The place is less than 300 acres so the runs can get repetitive when the vertical is so high.
