Excellent advice. Take a nice big shit as you ride up the lift, thus lowering your body weight. You’ll be lighter, so when you hit the jumps you will logically go higher. It’s basic physics.

is alyeska dark when you go during january and febuary because of how far north it is?

Not really, lifts open at 10:30 (basically sunrise) and during those months, they close the top chair down at 4:30 cuz sunset. But they keep night skiing open on the lower half of the mountain til 9:30. So the only light restrictions, during that time, is an hour less of daylight in the afternoon.

What do you recommend? Just right off the lift, or in the bibs?

Definitely off the lift. Pretend you’re a WWII bomber. Lots of targets under the lift. Try to pick out slow-moving ones at first.
