i've been to jazz festivals, i've been to a bunch of raves, i've seen snoopdogg and wu tang.

Metal shows are hands down the best shows without question.

I'm sure the show is fun, the lights look great, people are stoked, but I dislike EDM so I wouldn't last 5 minutes at that show. TBH i watched 2-3 parts of the video for about 5 seconds, i couldn't listen to the music.

Yea i can't stand EDM and it's culture. It's fun at first but after the third time seeing kids sweating on ecstasy and passing out it gets pretty old. not to mention the music is awful

MDA is great, The stuff that's not mdma you're getting that's still fund is probably more likely methylone etc. Still way better than a lot of the other shit that's out there.

yea it was fun until i ate it for like 2 days and started having these weird 3 second blackouts. That did it for me. my fault i should not have kept redosing.

Yea hardcore is the shit. Just saw ABR in NYC a few weeks ago - one of the best shows i've seen --the pit was fucking awesome. The metal community is dope because as people fall down someone picks you right back up. I went down hard twisted my ankle bad and someone immediately ran over and picked me up and brought me to the side. Fun as FUCK - really no drugs aside from weed and booze. No retarded sweating zombies and gay color lights,

I made an underoath pandora station and just jam that in the cat. I'm sure it's all bands people hate but august burns red, silverstein, and a bunch of other shit. Not huge into metal. but this is about as close as I get. A lot of hardcore, screamo, etc type stuff.

It's kind of nice if you're pissed at your coworkers to just crank that shit up and cruise around in the cat and do work.

You pretty much just described the pit at any dubstep show too, but to each their own. Totally respect whatever music taste you got going but I just never understand the high and mighty attitude everyone uses when they talk about EDM. That's fine if you don't like it, but everyone always comes off as acting like they're a better person because they listen to X music instead of Y. I fuck with a lot of EDM, but also metal/90s rap/new rap/classic rock/indie shit/etc and the stuff I don't like I would never think to make into some dick measuring contest where your coolness is based upon what kind of music you listen to.

A lot of the bigger mainstream EDM artists who are super repetitive and shitty give the whole genre a bad rep but there are SO many talented up and coming producers right now and just because it's not produced in a conventional way, people don't give it any merit as far as musical talent goes. Yeah the sweaty drug kiddies get annoying but you can ignore them pretty easily. The drunk ass people at country shows/rap shows/whatever aren't much better either. I got literally pissed on by some drunk dude at a country show, and you're going to find shitty people anywhere if you look hard enough. Obviously a DJ set will never be anything like a real live band, which I can totally appreciate, but some of the live mixing/scratching/drumming you'll see now is genuinely impressive to watch go down in person.

Id love to go to hullaween. Almost went this yesr. I do kind of wish it was still biscuits and ceese at hampton. Fl is far.

And ive seen bassnectar 6 or 7 times its been a while, maybe id catch a bit at a fest. But dont think id ever pay to go to a show.

Yea I don't mean to hate on other types of music. I've enjoyed pretty much all music in my life at some point or another. It has lead me to good and some to bad. It's different for everyone. I guess that was my inner experience speaking for myself and obviously it's just an opinion.

It was mostly a joke. I had long hair once, a long time ago. I was in 7th grade in 1991 when Nirvana hit the airwaves.

I've been to all kinds of shows: grateful dead, ozfest, coachella, lollapalooza, raves, and countless shows at small clubs and bars with everything from the softest folk music to the hardest grindcore/deathmetal/sludge whatever. I'm just old so I can say ''fuckin' hippies'' ''damn kids'' and ''get off my lawn'' whenever I'd like.

Funny you bring that up, I know punk is different than metal, but I was watching some old youtube videos on differennt hardcore punk bands from the 80’s. I wish I was alive during those times to experience something like that.

Thats whats up! Call me crazy but despite the truth behind the character stereotypes in the music scene, many people like to mix it up and catch a variety of acts. When I went to E Forest I didn't miss a set of cheese but of course saw Bassnectar. Same thing with catching all the UM and Moe and Trey sets at summercamp-- Bassnectar is awesome and not to be missed. Seen him occasionally I think 6 times over the last 8 years and enjoyed every set. Totally amazing audio/visual experience

When did you go to summer camp and e forest?! I went to eforest in 2012 and summer camp 2012-2017. The line up for scamp this year is nuts imo. It sucks that It's like a 19 hour drive instead of a one hour for me now.

Eforest 2013 and Scamp 2014... Both super fun at the time but now I prefer smaller festivals or specific runs. Like I love the biscuits but would rather catch them in colorado or a new england run than bother with camp bisco
