Ski size for park?

Hey NS,

What's the proper height for a park ski according to your height? I'm 5 foot 8 so how tall of a ski should I get? I know everyone has their own preferences like how Harlaut likes longer skis or Jesper Tjader likes to ride really short whips. What would be a happy medium for someone just starting to get into park? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

About as tall as you, so 171 would be about perfect

I always mount my skis at true center even if the ski isn’t symmetrical.

your height should be your starting point, then add or subtract a little length based on skill, preferences, style, etc

mount at recommended unless you know you want a little more tail/ a little less nose. only centermount if you KNOW you want it that way/ski swtich literally half the time and basically only do park/have symmetrical skis. otherwise IMO it's not worth the negative effect on the sidecut/carving

for general park use id say go center mount it if that mainly hwy you will be riding, if its only a little bit park go with way you are used to but dead center helps with slides and spinning

Depends on what the shape of the ski is. I would just go dead center if I were you. 1 cm doesn't seem like much but it does make a difference. Just don't go 1 cm back if the skis are symmetrical, only do it if they're skinnier in the back and if you're sure you want that

So why shouldn’t you mount 1 cm back if the skis are symmetrical? Wouldn’t that leave more ski in the front than back?

almost all symmetrical skis are meant to have equal performance for switch and forward they're basically designed to be mounted center so yoou can utilize the two halves evenly

What he said ^ They tell you specifically not to mount them anywhere but center (for K2 Domains at least). But no matter what the ski is, if you're going to be riding switch just do center. If you're not going to ride switch that much 1 cm back doesn't matter

doesn’t matter if the skis aren’t a symmetrical always mount center. and try to get a ski that is about as tall as you are.

Honestly OP if you're worried about not having enough nose if you true center mount (which it sounds like you are) go with what's been said and snag something as tall as you are. That way you don't have to compromise on giving more to your nose. Tails need love too.

Go with the recommended mount point. The Line Tom Wallisch has a recommended 3cm back. No one I know who has the ski has mounted it centre for park.
