BenWhiti'm not sure that was a great edit to make your case. that was 3:00 of swerving, that just so happened to be outside the park. probably another :45 of useless partying b-roll. and, another :15 of skiing that showcased legitimate talent. watching that made me uncomfortable.
.FrySiver Voll is one of my favorite skiers right now. He has a new wave kind of look and style, but he is so fucking smooth. https://instagram.com/p/BfgePe_jc2m/
-Danthen I made my case since it was talent beyond swerving around in the park. which 15 seconds did you consider talented?
here is bmack skiing a park in 2011 just for your enjoyment.

lil.Boyemy opinion is that the OG era was way more steezy, but you really couldn't tell the difference of the skiers. all of them did the same, not enough creativity. nowdays i think there is more to look at and more free thought. not all the people wear 5 tall Tees stacken on top of eachother. they wear what ever they want. "what is style? touché. Style is" -Garrett Russell
Strange.Journey.The Bunch has some of the most watched videos out rn and is so popular because they emulate the true freedom skiing gives all of us and their videos inspire others to pursue their own style of skiing
skiermanOh yes, dressing the exact same and forcing the same whack-ass flair is the definition of freedom and being unique.....

BenWhitthe parts where he left the ground or his skis were actually touching a feature...
I am not trying to start an argument, nor am I trying to deny the he or skiers like them are not inherently talented, but I have a hard time seeing this type of skiing as displays of raw talent. perhaps that's personal preference; I don't really know. I just don't see the value or what skill it really takes to hop, swerve, butter after a feature. or to "bonk" the end of a rail. maybe you can change my mind, but I didn't see anything in that edit where I thought, "wow, not a lot of skiers in the world can do that". Is there a specific clip in the first bmack edit that really blew your mind and made you think that?
-DanWhen he did the backslide thru the up rail gap to down rail. Always thought that clip was super amazing.
seems that your definition of talent is the big difference here. Mostly being physical accomplishments. And I get that, LJ or Clayton doing Superman style street shit always entertains me. Bigger and gnarlier is impressive.
With the skiers In the bunch it can be different. Just because others can do it doesn’t make it not impressive. I imagine the key to their recognition to be; not that they can do it, but that they think to do it. Their creativity and subsequent achievement results as much from their mind as it does from their body.
So back to your question. The real answer is basically all of the clips. If Bmack had never conceived his unique approach then really no one would have ever done the things he’s done because no one else had thought of it til they saw him do it. Same goes for the rest of the guys.
Jackson_DHeres my take on The Bunch. I have no issue with Magnus and LSM. Two incredible skiers. My issue is with their following. The people who surf The Bunches wake use it as an excuse to not be good. I've seen kids go around and try their swerves and other Bunch affiliated moves and just look ridiculous. Poorly skilled skiers hop on the trend and claim it is above all, are my issue. That being said, there are also very talented skiers that incorporate Bunch into their style and it looks really good. I respect them, just not the excuse users.

AndrewGravesSVWithin the tall era there was also a big group of skiers forcing the shit out of their afterbang which looked dumb.
AndrewGravesSVTo consider yourself a true skier I think you need to be at least proficient in all types of skiing, whether thats park, backcountry, moguls, cliffs, groomers, hell even telemark. This is mostly on point, but I consider myself a "true skier" and ive never even ridden a pair of telemark skis

Last year, Magnus won a FREERIDE comp at Beartooth Pass with tech rail tricks, some cool jump moves, and a handdrag 3 off a 40ft cornice into a steep, sticky, chunder landing. He beat out Crazy Karl for the top spot, then proceeded to crush a line of death cookies left by the groomer and make a legit little rhythm section out of them.
If you think Magnus is "bad" at skiing, you're a simpleton too entangled in either jealousy or rigid ideas about "what skiing should be/look like" to appreciate what the bleeding, cutting edge of skiing looks like.
It takes guts and intelligence to imagine the future, especially when a whole herd of people stuck in the past are going to create the Newschool Establishment to dump hateraid. It takes balls to bring those new ideas to life. So instead of acting like the gapers who thought that turning up the tails on the 1080 was a silly thing to do when the New Canadian Air Force came on the scene, maybe open your brain a little and recognize that change is a positive force in skiing.
