Unless you ski on super fine old sand(Africa or Peru), you need a Formica base(plastic countertop material). Normal ski bases won't slide as well.

SandyMctainttried it here at the sand dunes in Colorado. Hands down the worst thing I could have done. Embarrassed myself deeply. Will never return to the sand dunes as it give me PTSD.
