Thundercatyeah idk what people are talking about. Baker is all time!
Pole-LessSimply put, its BS, however, some resorts are better than others, and no one is immune to it on some days. Where's your home mountain?
ZypherWe don’t talk about baker...
eheathPWN receives very wet snow, I don't know the exact number but I think you typically see very wet ratios (under 1:10) while in other areas like Montana, Wyoming, Utah you see very light snow from 1:10 to even 1:30 if its cold enough.
Its based on humidity and temperature which is also connected to elevation. If you have a very cold storm coming through the PNW, the snow will be lighter. But most of the time, the PNW sees very wet storms, hence the large accumulations, but most of the time is very skiable. The whole concrete thing is more of people just talking shit, you'll get really wet snow in the PNW and rain often as well, but as long as its not april, the snow is still great to ski.
theabortionatorWe got dry snow in Tahoe today

CK_MediaI’m a PNW native, ski mostly at Stevens, Snoqualmie, Baker, and Crystal.
It’s mostly about the elevation of where you ski. For instance, over a weekend when Snoqualmie pass gets dumped on, by mid-day on a pow-day, the temperatures can rise a little bit and the snow will get heavier. That doesn’t happen each time, there are those times where it stays cold, and man is it fun.
Now take that same scenario over to Stevens, Baker or Crystal (all at higher elevations than say Snoqualmie pass), the temps, 9 times out of 10, don’t rise during a pow-day and the snow is cold. Maybe not champagne every single time, but it is FAR from Cascade Concrete.
That whole Cascade Concrete is just a stereotype. Yeah the snow is wetter here than in Utah, but it isn’t mashed potatoes all the time here.
If you come ski here, you’ll definitely enjoy it.

mystery3It's not ''wetter'' it is wetter, more moisture content per inch of snow.
ZypherSo it’s wetter...

DingoSeanIf it snows pow, shut up and don't worry about how cementy or concretey or blower it is. Ski it. It's hero conditions.
