So this is my first season in Colorado, and I know that this is basically the worst winter in like 40 years, or that's what they're saying at least. I guess what I'm asking is, what does winter usually look like? Do you usually not see any rocks under the Palli chair at A-Basin? Is everything 100% open by now? How much are we actually hurting right now? Coming from the east coast, this is obviously the best season of my life hands down, but I get that it could be alot better.
This winter has been super strange in the Tetons. High elevations are average to above average snowpack and thew low elevations are extremely below average. Really hope it turns on for Colorado so the crowds die out a bit up North for spring break.
This winter has been horrible on the east coast, in PA we've had multiple 60+ degree days and it hasn't been cold enough to make snow in multiple weeks. If it doesn't get colder soon our season is gonna end in the next 2 weeks
utah is having one of the worst, if not the worst season on record and business has still been alright i suppose.
all-time winters looked a bit like last year, which was actually normal years before the massive droughts.. still mindblowing that we got almost 200" in like 3 weeks last january. ive been out here 10 years and that was probably the most amount of snow ive seen in this area. cant imagine what it was like back in the day during those freak of nature seasons. it was hard to get around town with so much snow piled up on the sides of streets. if you lived in upper old town in park city, two-way streets were brought down to single lanes because of not being able to pass.
This season if fucking terrible. But our forecast is for nukage throughout the week so that's good
still stoked though. had some good days off skiing with homies and the snow has been decent, snowpack is still terrifying but its been that case for a while now sadly. transplants from the midwest will always be stoked cuz its still better than those landfills we got to ski in michigan.

I find myself always talking about how shitty it is....but by god it's still a billion times better than home. Plus this season is letting me get wayyy better at boarding due to all my switch days. Debating even competing on the board next season

you kinda get into a pissy jaded negative mood soemtimes in resort/lodging work because essentially good snowpack makes or breaks you in the industry, and guest take notice and make sure to let you know that its somehow your fault that there isnt a 250" base yet, it sucks but its the way it is sometimes.
great lakes region has just been pissing rain. Some of the hills had to close for the season last week after a failed attempt to preserve snow. Kids are not happy to say the least. The meteorologists are predicting a big cold snap next week though so mid march snowmaking may be an option since we never really had a thaw this year until now.

Our season has ended at Perfect North We had two months of skiing fuck me atleast it was fun

Photo on the left was Feb 25th 2018 at the top of crest at brighton, after all the new snow we got in the past couple weeks. The photo on the right was taken almost exactly a year before that, Feb 23rd 2017. I was waiting to see how this years snowpack would look compared to that absolutely buried trail map. It's still been a fun season but it's ridiculous that I am still hitting rocks and it's almost March.

I was working and skiing in the Uintas during that entire month cycle. It was just non stop. I think we had 3 non snow days in January and the sky went bluebird for like 1 day. And it was a day to remember.

It started out slow for the whole state but the Northern and Central mountains have rebounded nicely over the past 6 weeks. Statewide snowpack is at 73% of average currently. Colorado still gets tons of snow in March so we could end up beating the 2015 season. The North Platte basin (Steamboat) is of 91% average snowpack while the Southern mountains are 45-65% of average.
Over the pond In europe, Its looking pretty good, The best snow is normally feb-march, and its looking real nice, Past seasons have def been better, but its still really good

Bro same. My resort has already said they will probably be closed for the season unless it gets colder again.
Well last winter N america had a shit load of snow whilst we europeans jerked off to every snowflake we saw... guss the things have turned since i ride pow almost every weekend and i dont even live near the center of the Alps
Would be nice to see the Wasatch get to the 80 range by the end of the year, seems hopeless though. Uintas are getting better, but damn what a poor winter for OR, CA, NV UT and CO

Local Hill Already closed for the season in Michigan
Still slamming a lot of rocks and stumps at Loveland especially upper mountain. Chair 9 has just a narrow cat-width runout with grass sticking out everywhere else from the bottom of patrol bowl to the #4 headwall when I was up there Sunday. Before the couple good storms and occasional 1-3” dustings in January it was a joke for sure, like the snowpack in Nov-Dec was straight up similar to conditions 2 weeks after opening. I’m hoping we just get nuked on March April and May and the season spills into June or so
a nor’easter is coming in hot. 7-13 inches for the cleveland area expected. (incase you didn’t know this is the biggest storm in like 3-4 seasons here)
I think the issue on hood was that it was getting really warm after weather systems would come in and the base would be affected. T line was one of the first resorts to open but didn't get really hitting till January. So if there was any snow it'd be stupid packed to the point they would close the road up before the lifts would start running. It's been good though, after a season like last it is to be expected. Couple storms over the last 2 weeks have helped a lot
Personally, for me, it still feels kinda like preseason a little bit. It's really weird saying that in March when Spring skiing is starting to hit but I just feel like for the majority of the season the snow hasn't been that good and everything is still staying pretty exposed. That's just my opinion on how it is at Winter Park but others may feel differently.
In new england we always get a stiff thaw around middle of february but this year we lost nearly all of our snow for almost a month its absolutley shot
