Fewer young skiers in the streets?

Is it just me or has there been a decline of younger skiers interested in street? Lots of pros and older guys but few 14-18 y/o's. I'm the only one at my hill, aside from the snowboarders i film with, that actively participates in this. I see some clips on Instagram from time to time but that's about it

Because unless you're really damn good and don't have any regard for consequence, whatever you hit will probably look kind of lame. It's very time consuming, it's expensive to get speed and lights, and organizing a crew in high school is hard.

I'm all for urban, love watching it and I've had a lot of fun doing it. It's just a lot of work for little reward personally. If everywhere was a winter wonderland with unlimited build capability and you could just pound the zero key to get speed like you're playing shred sauce in real life then yes. Skiing would be like skateboarding where street is the only thing that matters. But since that's not a thing, I'll just keep playing urban maps on shredsauce...

I live in Hood River Oregon and the main problem is the lack of snow down here. We have plenty of spots and we always ride when possible but it’s usually about once a year.

Kids look up to what pros or ams do and usually do the same. Being from Montreal, when I was younger, there was probably 3-4 crews from Montreal only filming street and making films, and that's what me and my friends wanted to do. Nowadays, who do they have to look up to? There's much less people filming urban, combine that with Instagram, and kids don't even bother filming edits anymore.

But as it's been said, filming urban is hard and time consuming. Unfortunately I've seen it numerous times where people start filming, get a couple of clips and then it starts going wrong and they give up midway through the winter. Plus there's the snow factor. No many cities have snow for 3-4 months to hit street, we're lucky for that here in Quebec

I could water ski the flooded streets in Pittsburgh but I would get hepatitis C.

Real life 0 keys exist, they're just super expensive.

I built my "0 key" from scratch. Maybe I should post a thread of how to build it from nothing and go into detail

Cause all the ski media kids get is park. They might see a couple dope urban edits, try it once, realize its hard and scary, and never do it again.

lol didn't that guy always come here and post his new videos for some reason? I remember he would get like no upvotes or comments in his threads, but he still came here to post his garbage every time he put something out
