NYC Fiend - one night trip out west possible?

I've done it for two days. Flew up Saturday, came home Sunday. Was really rough on the body with all the traveling, skiing, and immediate altitude adjustment in Colorado (going from 500 to 11000+ feet in a few hours will fuck you up hard). Denver is probably the cheapest city to fly to. I did it for a sweet price ($300 per person after splitting three ways- 2 lift tickets, flight, hotel, and car. It would have been even cheaper if we stayed in an airbnb.). Lift tickets are the issue because the earlier you buy, the cheaper obviously.

Don't forget about delayed and cancelled flights. If you have a connection through Chicago, and they have bad rain or snow, kiss your trip goodbye. Also if your ski bag gets lost or delayed, forget skiing that day. Our bags didn't get loaded and arrived 7 hours late. If that does happen, ask for reimbursement. Airlines will give you vouchers for rentals and lift tickets and also gave us cash vouchers for future travel. Also consider the possibility of a line at the rental car facility. I've waited over an hour before in line. Best to fly in earlier than you need to. Tip: ALWAYS bring your boots on the plane. It can be your personal item. That way if your skis get lost, at least you won't be in rental boots.


Im right with you on this powder craze. The East Coast is all melting and the west is getting blitzed. Shit I flew out of SLC the day before they got a huge snowstorm. Then my flight got delayed by a day in Chicago. So pissed. Could have just stayed and skied.

And just checked the weather. More decent snow totals predicted for Snowbird Thursday through Friday night. So Saturday would be dope.

Try for at least 2. If you cant get off of work, find a way to get off and try for at least 2.

Don't let the gram fool you too much, just a weekend probably would cost too much for it to be worth it.

I have a max pass, so either skiing copper / winter park in colorado or brighton/solitude in SLC. obviously have all my own gear, so only costs are travel / one night lodging. Plan would be to cop flight tix last min so either their super cheap or I am just not going.

The airport, the flight, gettting from the airport to where you're skiing, skiing, then the reverse can take a lot of time. I mean if it was the only chance I got, I'd probably do it, but if there's anyway to get more time do it. Especially having a pass. The flight $ plus the general hassles aren't worth it without 2 days imo.

I wanted to hit PC this year cause I had 3 days off a week, but they had no snow. They started getting snow and I switched to 5 days. I'm still only going if I snag another day off probably and can drive there right after work, and get 2 days of riding before coming back. Other wise I'm heading east early so will spend a day or 2 riding in april if I don't get it in now.

Idk. I feel you, but seems way more reasonable to just ride the beast coast even though the snows been whack. IF you don't have much time to enjoy it, seems like kind of a waste.

I've done red-eye weekends to Snowbird.

only 4 hour plane ride from JFK to SLC plus 40 drive from the airport to the Cottonwoods.

I think Snowbird (or Alta) lets you ski for free if your flight lands the day of
