ON3P Kartel 108 sizing

Hey guys, so I'm relatively new to skiing (first year) but I'm already slashing through most terrain pretty aggressively. I am currently running an older pair of K2 Kung fujas at 169cm, I'm looking at upgrading next season to set up some Kartel 108s. Just wanted to get some more experienced sizing between the 176 and the 181. I'm 160lbs and 5'9" and ride primarily in the Canadian Rockies and Interior British Columbia. I appreciate any input!

Kind of apprehensive to jump all the way up to a 186, I know guys taller/heavier than me that run that. I want to keep it to a level that I can charge steeps but keep it jibby and easy to throw around and toss spins

Get the 186. I’m 5 9 1/2 and 170 and I ride on 186. I used to ski on 169 K2 same as you and the 186 is perfect. It took me 3 days to get used to it

I'd say get the 181. 186 might feel like a whole lot of ski escpecially you're first year skiing

I would say 181 would be a pretty safe bet since it will only be your second year skiing but If you are advancing extremely quickly and feel like you could handle it maybe one more size up wouldn’t be a bad thing.

How do you find the 186s are to spin?

They are relatively light so fairly easy. If your looking to charge the most definitely get the 186 as the longer length will give you more stability. If you like to go slow but like to jib around on side hits and trees go for the 181. Whichever length you go with you’ll be happy because the Kartel is an awesome ski. If your mountain has demos then try a 186 ski and then try a 181 ski doesn’t have to be on3p but it will let you know if the jump is too big.

Thanks man that is some solid insight. Unfortunately living in Canada the closest demo day ON3P has is at Schweitzer in Idaho. But with that input the 181 sounds more proper for me.

Not that 5cm is a huge difference but I'm a fan of longer skis any day of the week. Go with the 181's

Keep in mind, the Kartels (or any ON3P for that matter) have a good amount of tip and tail rocker. So whatever length you get they are gonna handle like a fairly shorter ski. Also where you mount them will make a difference.
Recomended boot center, 181 is sufficient. True center, 186.
