Pass is pretty unbeatable for someone living in CA looking to make 3-5 big trips in a season. IMO this pass blows epic pass out of the water. Equally good parks and better mountains all at an awesome price. If only Whistler wasn’t a Vail mountain.
I live in Central California, so I will be buying at least the base pass. Just a matter if it is worth the extra $300 for more Mammoth days and not have to bug friends for vouchers.
man, if you live in CA or CO, this is a pretty solid pass (especially CA).. but they blew it by not at least putting deer valley unlimited at least on the $900 pass.. no one from Utah is going to buy this. (I only mention deer valley because Alterra bought them last year, so I would have assumed it was going to be unlimited access.)

Yeah they missed a huge market skipping Utah on unlimited passes

Sorta.
The way this shit works is that the resorts negotiated these pass deals. DV probably only did 7 days because their pass is $2000, same with Jackson, alta/bird is like 1600 or something. These would be huge revenue losses for those resorts so they only agreed to a certain amount of days. Plus, these resorts don't need some big combo pass, theyre doing quite well on their own, maybe in the future it will change, but they didn't fuck anything up by any measure.

Looks like if you live in Aspen, Jackson, etc you will need buy the same pass you bought last year and you won't get any benefits of the Ikon pass at all. That sucks a lot
This looks good! The adult passes are a little more than I spent on the epic passes but the kid's passes are only $149. Just for Squaw it's worth it I think, maybe planning some trips to Alta, Mammoth, Lake Louise, Jackson Hole...a lot of possibilities.
Yeah. IDK, for me, I'm on the MTN Collective, and I'm really happy with it, I really hope this doesn't kill off the MTN Collective. And I'm super not into blackout dates. Looks fun for you CO / CA guys though.

That's because they sell really expensive passes, jackson is $2k and im sure aspen is expensive as well, not surprised resorts like these are not include at the unlimited level.
Profahoben_212$719 for the "gold"....no blackouts like the current pass.
$479 for one with 5 days at mammoth and blackout dates on holidays etc...not sure what the specific blackout dates are.
Blackout dates are typical: 12/26-1/1, MLK weekend, Prez day weekend. I think it's just Saturday and Sunday on each of the weekends for a total of 10 days blacked out. I'll take it, lodging is too expensive on those dates anyway.

Oh for sure, its just kinda sad that I can't ski copper or steamboat with my Aspen pass. I wish I could at least get some discounted tickets for other places.

Meh thats not too bad. definitely not worth the extra 300 dollars to get one that has 10 extra days of sitting in lift lines.
Man, I'm so stoked that this is a thing. Going to Montana State next year and i'm buying this pass just for the 7 days at Big Sky and Jackson. Going to have myself a hell of a time at the other resorts over Christmas/spring break though.

true but you cant deny that it sucks from the consumers perspective. locals have to pay out the nose for their season passes while their lift lines become full of icon pass holders. great for everyone who owns a business in town but not for your average ski bum living in town.
Any East Coast skiiers in this thread? Didnt realize this pass was taking over the MAX Pass. Pretty bummed, this really trims down the options for anyone in the North East.
Kind of understandable I suppose, MAX pass seemed too good to be true the last two years I had it.
tyler1719I may be missing something here but I thought Vail bought Eldora not all that long ago so I was a little confused when I saw it on the Ikon pass
This is the worst news ever for us in Steamboat. Sure the pass is a little cheaper, but the throngs of Denverites who are going to swamp us every weekend, will turn my hill into a Breck like shit show on weekends.

I don't see Front Rangers making the extra slog over that pass to get up there. They will stick to Winter Park and Copper unless they decide to be Epic along I-70.
Also steamboat has one of the largest uphill capacity in the country. You guys can push like 34,000/hr. So plenty of room for more
Bullshit, it's already getting busier on the weekends because of all the crowds down on I70 and winter park. And obviously you haven't seen our gondi line on busy days. 31 year old gondi can't handle what we have now, it's gonna be a LOT worse.

Actually I have. I was there weekend before Presidents' Day. Line was large but moved quick and efficient. Once up, didnt wait in line more then 3-4 minutes all day. This was on a Saturday before holiday weekend. That gondola also looked to be in good shape and running well and efficient. You also have a HS6 running up next to it.
My point is steamboat averages 800k skier visits. If that goes to 900k you won't notice.

fair warning we're all broke here and only tour or ski bridger

Steamboat is pretty far for a day trip. I don't see many icon front rangers getting up there for more than 1 weekend. I know I'm mostly gonna be skiing copper and winter park coming up from boulder.

Can't speak for Snowbird, but at DV I think it's more about the cap on numbers.....full price pass holders would riot if enough Ikon pass holders showed up to shut the resort down on a regular basis.

Oh, you've skied here one weekend. Well I've skied here every fucking weekend for the last 32 years, and every week day. It's getting busier already and it'll be much worse next season, with all the cheap passes getting 10 days here. 3-4 minutes, fuck that, i like skiing right on to the chair. and believe me I'll notice, the only good part is more chicks watching me from the chair.

Shit, you know it all. Best skier there. Best local. My mountain.
You sound like a real fucking douche. Go buy a cabin in the woods and get away then. People like you are the most annoying type of local. I'm guessing you like serve burgers at the cafeteria or scrub toilets and night and ski every day. And every tourist sucks yet they all allow me to have a job and ski.

I'll take my burger medium. With cheese.
Ha ha pretty funny. You're the one telling me what's going on at the place I've lived for 32 years. And you def have no idea about my situation, keep guessing. Not all tourist suck, just the hordes from Denver that clog shit up on Sat and Sun. I like the kind that fly here, stay for a week. The only thing you got right was. I'm the best skier here.

32 years of skiing steamboat everyday and youre not even pro?
hate to break it to you, brah, but it actually sounds like you fucking suck.
As someone in Oregon who goes to Colorado, Park City, and Whistler, the epic pass is still the go to. The lack of every resort being unlimited kills this for me. I travel a ton during the winter and negotiating blackout dates is no big deal, but running out of days is stupid. In addition, if I were a local at PC and have an epic pass, I still have unlimited there and a ton of other places, which is dope. If I'm a local at a resort on the Ikon and it isn't unlimited, then the Ikon is pointless to me.
3maniaI was Pro before you were born, coached pro's, and now I've moved on to legend status. You trolls should check shit out before you post.
wow you got a cover skiing powder for a jerrymag!? sooo cool! that looks like a really difficult shot to get! i think i mightve seen you in my dentist's office one time!
is it hard being a whiny spoiled 14 year old trapped in a 32 year olds body?
idgaf how good you are or used to be at skiing you sound like another over the hill jaded local with nothing to look forward to imo

How did they let you out of the burger flipping line to ski pow? There are so many people that ski steamboat now. $25 burgers are in high demand. You can't go ski pow when people need extra cheese!

You're not getting it are you? You're name is Ski Bum? What kind of job do you think ski bum's have? How are we supposed to run a ski resort w/o these people that you demean so casually? No one can afford to live here, there's no rooms to rent. We need more of the cafeteria workers and lift ops, the people you're shitting on. We need them to serve the tourist that apparently you love so much and there are going to be a lot more of with this new pass.

Cover of Jerrymag = free skis, goggles, poles, outerwear, pass. I'm looking forward to skiing 200 days this season, just like every other one. And where can I get this 32 yo body?
